PLEASE do not ask for medication dosages from strangers on the Internet. They do not have the medical education to know that.

Even *I* can't tell you which antibiotic (and which dose) would be appropriate, without first seeing your pet. That's because there are too many other factors to consider.

First of all, it may not even be an 'ear infection'....it could be an abscess, it could be puppy 'strangles' (an immunologic condition), or yeast.

Most people think their pets have a fever when they often don't. That's because his body temp is normally 3-4 degrees higher than yours, so of course he's going to feel warm to you. The ONLY way you can determine if he has a fever is to take his temperature with a rectal thermometer. Anything over 102.6 is suspect....and if it's over 104, you need to take him in today.

Probably not the answer you want to hear but you really need to take the animal to a vets office. Antibiotics are not all the same and are used to treat different medical problems. The dosage depends on alot of variables such as weight, age, and the seriousness of the infection. It is very possible that the dog will need a good ear cleaning and ear drops rather than an internally taken medicine.

The dog needs to be seen by a vet to determine the correct antibiotic that should be used for they type of ear infection that it has. Not all antibiotics treat the same kinds of infection, and there are many different kinds of bacteria that can cause ear infections.
Most of the time, dogs with ear infections need drops to go directly into their ears. Please do not try to medicate this dog yourself, you could cause much more damage than you think.

No one should self medicate an animal of any kind with such a medicine as antibiotics. there are many different reason why your dog's ear is like that. It could be allergies to something, it could be that the ear hair is clogging the ear and preventing drainage, it could be dental related - take your dog in to your local vet's office to be seen before you jump to conclusions.

Do NOT self medicate your dog!! To do so can cause a lot more harm then good. The dog needs to go to the vet and be examined and the type of ear infection he has needs to be determined. The cause/type will depend on what type of treatment he wil lget and waht meds will be dispensed.
Also please note it is illegal for anyone including a licensed vet to tell you drug amounts/dosages without actually seeing your dog.

You need to take your puppy to the vet. He can tell you what the appropriate antibiotic is (and if indeed that is what you have) and what the proper dosage is. If you do it wrong you could kill your dog.
