Not the whole thing, but I did travel on part of it, and spent a couple days in Winslow, Arizona. (And saw the statue of Jackson Browne "standin' on a corner". Yes, the Eagles sang that song, but Jackson Browne wrote it.)
The modern interstates have passed a lot of the old Rte 66 by. The movie "Cars" was right on, actually. At least in the southwest, as you drive I-40 you see lots of towns that at one time were booming, but now are barely hanging on, or abandonded. Winslow has the run-down portion and a booming, new portion.
FWIW, we had a good time there. Good jumping off point for the Petrified Forest. Painted Desert, and Meteor Crater. Also the Hotel Posada was a very interesting place to stay. The restaurant there is probably the best within 50 miles, and its reasonable. The hotel is also a museum celebrating Rte 66 and the work of Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter.
