I have tried everything it seems and every kind of cup. I just can't get my toddler to drink out of anything but the bottle. Any suggestions or should I stop worrying?

Tried Nubys, gerber first sippy, playtex leak proof cups, and more. I have a whole cabinet full of cups. Nuby recently started making a bottle that is designed to help get toddlers to drink from the cup and that wont work either. She is really particular and has been since birth about the nipples on her bottles..will only drink from the playtex nursers. This is really frustrating and I don't think that I can handle just taking it away from her because I am affraid that she isn't just being particular with this but just doesn't KNOW how to drink from them. Help!

Buy a sippy cup without an anti-leak valve (or take the valve out) and show your child the drink comes out when you tip the cup. Let him/her practice in the high chair but don't pressure them. I advise against the cups with valves. You want your child to leave cups are for sipping, not sucking like a bottle.

Also have you tried a straw or just a regular cup? With my daughter I gave her a small plastic cup with colored juice or milk (different color from the cup so she could see it in there). Either way it takes patience and practice. :)

At Walmart and Target they have NUBY bottles that have silicone, leak proof nipples that are shaped like the spouts on a sippy cup. My son was a preemie and had a hard time learning to use a sippy cup and after using these for a few months he finally started using regular sippy cups, and that is all he uses now.

First thing is to just rid yourself of the bottles! I did daycare for 8 1/2 years and raised two sons of my own. No child after 1 should have a bottle. They will drink from a cup if they know that they aren't getting that bottle back. It won't be easy, but don't give in! I always used Playtex sippies - they have big kid designs on them. Also if you get rid of the bottle - you get rid of diapers!!! BONUS!! All of the children in my care were bottle gone by 13 months and diaper free by 2!!! Good luck.

My son used avent bottles until 6 months, then we got avent soft spout sippys and it took a couple of tries but I think he realized that if he wanted to drink, he better suck on it! I know some people think I am anal but I have worked in daycares and seen kids with bottles at 2 and i said NO WAY! my pediatrician said 6 months is the perfect age before they get to attached to a bottle. The avent sippys are alot like a bottle. it took a day and he never had a bottle again!!!

I started putting the handles on his bottles at 5 months so when I changed the spout it wasnt a big dramatic change. one thing at a time

The best way is to throw out the bottles and give her sippy cups. She will be angry about it because she loves those bottles so much. I promise that she will not allow herself to go thirsty. She will probably throw it and screem and carry on. The hardest but best thing for you to do is to calmy walk out of the room and not react to this. I know it is hard (i have a 2 year old right in the middle of the terrible twos). But, as I said before she won't let herself go thirsty.

I agree with Ryan's Mom. The soft nippled Nuby cups are the easiest!

We use the Nuk cups. Have you tried taking the stoppers out of them so she doesn't have to work so hard? Put a *tiny* bit of formula/juice/whatever you normally feed her in a bottle in the cup and take the stopper out. When you give her the cup, help her tilt it back, and the liquid will run straight into her mouth and she'll catch on--hey, there's something yummy in here! Eventually she'll get the hang of it and you can start giving them to her on a regular basis.

My son turned one and was doing good on sipy cups, until he got sick and wanted a bottle. He was sick and I felt bad so i gave it to him. and 6 months later he was still on a bottle. i took all his bottles and gave him a sippy. if they get thirsty they will drink it! They make sippy cups that have the sippy cup spout but are rubbery like a bottle nipple. they sell them at wal-mart for like $1.25 each. They are spill proof and are easy for them to drink out of.

Just relax..If you keep introducing the cups to your toddler he/she will start getting used to them eventually. My only problem is that I can't get mine to drink milk from a cup..Everything else she drinks in a cup but not her milk and she is almost a year and a half old...so it takes time..
