I have an "associate" in my life whom me and few other friends knows that he lies alot. Well a conversation of ours got me scratching my head: He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan in the early 90's. Met a Japanese girl there and she became pregnant with his daughter. Well his daughter live here with him now (he has custody) and I asked him, When did she get her citizenship"? He told me she was born an American because her mom gave birth to her at the military hospital over there. Now, I'll admit, I know very little when it comes to the military, but I could have sworn that only the wives can give birth in a military hospital. Am I wrong? How is that so? I have one friend who's a military wife and she says I'm right. I just want a second more indepth answer. Thanks in Advance.

as a military wife whilst am not totally sure on the this ONCE the baby was born he can put her on his page 2's [ie make her a dependent but prior to the birth I would not have thought it was possible IMO............
But in regards to her citizenship as a military person [father] then she would have been able to get that sored out at birth IF he filed the papers on her behalf.so the two are actually separate items.........the birth side dont think he is quite telling you the truth but in regards to her citizenship the child did not even have to be born at a mil. hospital just have him file the papers after the birth

I support candys position above.
After paternal tests are done and it is proven that the child is in fact yours, then that child, pending custody hearings if the 2 parents are not friendly, is the military members dependant and therefore can become an American citizen by being born to an American in the armed forces.
Being a new husband and a soon to be new father (married before we got pregnate), I know that even though I was married to my wife and had all the doccumentation saying she was married to me, I could not have my wife seen by a military provider until I enrolled her into the military health care system known as TRICARE.
I therefore do not beleive that the girlfriend could of given birth at a military hospital unless there were mitigating circumstances. For example: if her water broke while she was on base and the closest hospital was the military hospital then she could of given birth there, but billed as a citizen. If she was in an accident and the closest hospital was the military one then she could of.
There are a bunch of "if and's or buts" to be considered. Hopefully this helps you out.

Someone said if she was a civilian working with the military, it is possible, otherwise definately not! When the baby was born she became his dependant being that he was in the military, she gets an id card etc. etc. But a g/f giving birth in a military hospital, no way!

Girl friends are not official dependents and are not allowed any associated treatment. The child, after birth would be recognized as a dependent (with proper Birth Certificate stating he was the father)

Sometimes if it is your kid they allow it. Most of those times the miulitary person pays the bill. But since the father is an American Citizen, the daughter is American come hell or high water. Even if she had been born off base he needs to just take her birthcertificate to the Embassy and declare her his child, bam citizenship is hers.

If the Japanese national was a contract employee, she may have been entitled to services in her own right.
That being said, the child would have been accorded American citizenship anyway. her father was an American citizen, and he would have been able to record her birth on base.

Hmmmm.... well, if he's known to lie a lot, then anything he says is suspect.
That might not even be his kid.
