I don't know of any herbs, but there is an enzyme that helps prevent gas/bloating. The reason we get gas from beans is because we are lacking the specific enzyme to break it down. They sell Beano (has specific enzyme in it) at your local drugstore in the medicine/ herbal section. Take these pills as directed( right before eating the beans) and it will help tremendously!

I made a pot of pinto beans last week and tried Beano right before eating dinner. All I can say is I wasn't exactly thrilled with the results. I will try baking soda next time.

Add a potato to your dish(es). The potato absorbs the "gas" from the beans and turns light black. Throw away the potato when dish is done. My grandmother used to do this when she cooked a pot of beans and it worked.

Try just a pinch of baking soda. My father-in-law told me of this and it really does help!
