maybe not actually damage, but they may actually have an effect on your tear ducts natural ability of moisten your eye. make sure you use good drops recommended by your eye doctor. visine may not be the best product for you if you have a chronic problem with dry eyes.
Be Careful and ask a doctor:)

Yes. The body's natural defense against eye irritation is to tear up in an effort to flush out the irritant. Redness is a sign the eye is doing what it needs to do to stay healthy.
Visine inhibits the eye's natural defense mechanism, causing the redness & tearing to stop which then causes the initial irritant to remain in the eye. This irritant was the problem; not the redness. If the irritant is not removed from the eye, it can scratch the cornea.

What can happen with this and any Medication. The body can become dependent on the eye drops and cause your eyes to be more dry, thus needing the drops. This can happen with Antacid Tablets and Sinus medicine etc.

Use something more natural instead of visine.
