Depo provera is a shot that lasts 3 months. However, my gynecolegist does not recommend it, because some say it's not safe.

There is also the patch. You wear one each week except the week of your cycle. My sister likes that one because it's easy to remember.

As a last resort, there is the morning after pill. Contrary to its name, it can be used up to 3 days after unprotected sex. However, it is also controversial ethically. Is it considered abortion? I don't think so, but it's up to the woman to decide.

Also, some religious folks use a calendar method that supposedly tracks your most fertile days and least fertile days, so that sex can occur without other birth control methods. However, it is the least effective method.
