There is a great website, called FirstGov.gov, that has links for all the government agencies and more.
But, for Federal Laws and Regulations, go to:
http://www.firstgov.gov/Topics/Reference_Shelf/Laws.shtml
The state you live in, will also have the state laws listed on their website.

You might find a guide like this on most State web sites,
http://www.nysegov.com/citGuide.cfm?superCat=129
but a list of all laws and regulations would be a really big book.
If you are thinking that the activity you are about to do is illegal, it probably is and you should consult a lawyer before doing it.

I work for the State of MO and we have a websight that you can look around in for ordinances and such, but you have to know what you are looking for. Another way to find out information, is to call your Sheriff's dept or City PD OR you can get free advice from your county's prosecuting attorney. You can probably remain annonymous and just ask your question...shouldn't be too hard. Good luck! Nana

There are over 20 codes (books of codes) for state, federal, military, corporate, civil, real estate, etc etc....so to get a more accurate pointer about where to look for your reference material, it may help to know a little about the type of event.
