Hmmm, scholarly enlightenment you achieve by asking yourself questions. Only believe something if you yourself believe it is possible. Then, seek the opinions of others and use them to clarify the truth you have arrived at. Spiritual enlightenment is a completely different matter. Scholarly enlightenment is a raft we use to reach spiritual enlightenment, once we have crossed the river, we do not need the raft.

Neither ! Dont be a parrot by just repeating what the other
parrots have said. Keep your eyes and ears open and think
about where the truth may lay. There is much that we dont
know about this world that we live in and just have to face the
fact that we are not going to find out. Be a realist.

When we begin to open up to a spiritual path, we may go through many different experiences and processes in our search, but eventually we come back to an experience of our true selves, the godlike nature or universal mind that is within us all. Through this experience we are eventually restored to our full spiritual power. The emptiness inside us is filled up from within. This is the process known as enlightenment.

By engaging in some mind training that seeks to quiet and focus the mind -- and then in many cases people are given koans which are questions that can only be answered when the rational/dualistic mind's resources are exhausted. Read '3 Pillars of Zen' for more info.

Although I consider myself a Christian and I love Christ and God very much, I had to study Buddhism to even understand what enlightenment was or how to reach it. Buddhism really helps where the Christian scriptures fall short.

wisdom and knowledge lead to enlightenment. through discussing what one knows and believes with others being willing to consider different points of view and taking the good points discarding the rest. respecting the rights beliefs of others as they want theirs respected. remembering the more one knows the more one finds out they don't know. there is no one who will ever know everything about anything. he who knows what he knows and he who knows what he does not know is typical of one who knows.

By remembering this always:
We are born in this world crying
and we leave it dying.
but between these two times
we must live, love and endure.
Experience happiness, experience sadness.
Be loved, be needed
and above all ACCEPT.
