My company will let me have Norton Anti Virus Corporate Edition for free. Is it as good as the one I can buy off the shelf?

Just because something is 'Corporate Edition" does not necessarily mean it's best. I say this because office networks are very managed. I need a good IT person to stear me right!

Both suck. Norton releases virus definitions quite late... I just charged a client using Norton $1600 to clean their network - using other antivirus software that caught the infection, such as Sophos and Dr. Web (never heard of them prior to this instance, but they cleaned the infection with 3 MONTH OLD data). Sure, Norton caught it - 3 days after I was there... And this isn't the first time - I had the same issue 4 years or so ago with two other viruses... Buy something that works for home use - McAfee is not as good as Sophos, but they are FAR better than Symantec/Norton.

By the way, The corporate version typically doesn't include firewall and other utilities. So if you really want a norton/symantec product, use the CORPORATE version - the consumer version typically causes conflicts with any new program you install (well, it's the only antivirus I've seen have issues with AOL and Windows Service Packs on a REGULAR basis). Symantec is a MARKETING company that REALLY knows how to sell CR@PPY PRODUCTS!

Yes it is the best. I'm a systems administrator and an MCSE with over 12 years experience in the field. Use the Norton corporate edition and in combination get Spyware Doctor from PCTools and you are set!

Here is the link for PCTool's Spyware Doctor:

The corporate edition is far better than the personal edition.
