Take him to the vet. How is the vet going to make your cat suffer any more than he is now?

Kudos to your husband - why doesn't he just take the cat while you are fooling around on the computer?
If your cat has been hit by a large vehicle and is still alive that's where he needs to go without question. If blood is coming out of his mouth that is a bad sign as it may indicate internal bleeding which can take his life very fast. A neighbor's cat was hit by a cat and the bleeding from his mouth was a superficial mouth wound. Only a vet can evaluate this.
Usually cat's don't survive an accident such as this. Because of their small size and weight the impact causes the same reaction in the brain, the "shaken baby syndrome", where the brain is slammed against the skull and causes death. It can be only a temporary neurological damage and the cat could recover from it.
A vet is the only person who can evaluate the injuries and treat if that will save the cat.

I'm sorry to hear this, the same thing happened to a dog I had. There are several options the vet can give besides putting him down. It depends on why he can't walk for what they do. For legs, it will be a simple cast and you'll have to keep him off of the leg. We had to keep our dog off of her feet, and putting them in a small cage helps because it encourages the animal to lay down. ( I know that you probably don't want to do this, but in the long run it really would help them heal, and is definately only temporary.) If it's in the hip, they can put a bar in to keep it in place. This would have cost roughly $3000 for our dog, and is probably similarly priced for a cat. Depending on how the hip is broken, the bar may or may not prevent them from walking. If you can't afford that, then they can set the hip back into place and you can hope for the best. This is what we had to do. Keeping her in a cage most of the day kept her off of it enough the her hip stayed in place perfectly. If all goes well, your cat will heal just fine. Regardless of what you choose, I think you need to see a vet, even with euthenasia not being an option at all.
I hope that I was of some help, and that you can figure something out.

Are you freaking kidding me? What are you thinking? How can taking him to a vet make him suffer? They will stop his suffering! You are making him suffer by sitting on the computer and not driving him to an emergency vet right now! If you got hit by a car would you rather your husband just took you home or to the hospital? Get real!
The cat may very well be able to be fixed. Taking him to the vet does NOT automatically mean euthanasia.

You have to take the cat to the vet. He is suffering and the vet will take care of him. If you were hit by a truck wouldn't you go to the doctor.?

i feel very very sad for the cat and for you... your duty as his owner is to take your cat to the animal doctor - the VET. If your child got hit by a truck, you will have absolutely no doubts (it should be hoped) of where to take him - to the hospital under the care of a doctor! It may be that your cat may be saved. The vet will advice you. DO IT.
Next time, never let your cat outdoors un-supervised. Contrary to what a lot of people think, cats do get into a whole heap of trouble outdoors in suburbia: cars, dogs, other cats... I take my cat out for walks at night but he has a halter and leash on and is always in my control. Took time for him to get used to it, but he did.

Taking him to the vet does NOT make him suffer but instead EASES his suffering.
You do not need to subject the cat to any procedure you feel is inappropriate. At the very least, a quick euthanasia will end his pain.

I hate to say it, because no pet owner wants to hear it. You need to take him to the vet and have him put down. It's quick, and he won't suffer because of it. It's hard, I know, because this has happened many times before to me. But you have to think, at least he's not going to be suffering anymore. You have to do what's best for the cat.

If you do not want your cat to suffer, take it to the vet. Get off the computer and go now. Find one that is open on weekends. I agree with your husband.
