I would suggest a Ford Focus. A Mustang is TOO much of a car for her. It is also TOO powerful for her. Insurance will be EXTREMELY expensive for her. Sorry, it that's not the answer you wanted to hear, but believe me, it's the answer for her own good!!! What teenagers LIKE to drive, and what they SHOULD drive are often two different things!!!!

If it were me, I'd be buying her a Ford Fairmont, Chevy Caprice or Dodge Diplomat or something similar. But I know making a teenager drive a 20-25 year old car isn't for everyone. So...
I recommend one of the following cars, used, about 3-6 years old.
Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Dodge Stratus, Ford Taurus, Buick Century. Even with a V6, insurance on the Mustang will probably cost at least as much as a year's worth of gas. And the GT is even worse, and likely too fast, as well. Small cars like the Focus, Civic, etc. also have fairly high insurance rates.
My listed cars may not be "cool", but they're relatively safe, reliable, and won't be 'too' bad on insurance.

I am a more tom boyish female and I drive a ford mustang. Anyone will tell you a mustang is a man's car. If you get her a mustang watch out because you may need to buy her an automatic. Most people can't start out driving 5 speed cars. Good luck finding her a car. I would suggest a ford focus or a ford fusion. They are very nice and very reliable.

Depends on how old and responsible she is. I think I'd start with a Focus or even an Escape. I have a Fusion but it may seem too old person for a kid. I LOVE it, though. My husband and I have a 2004 Mustang convertible and a 2005 Mustang GT and I woulnd't thiunk either would be too good for a kid. Especially the GT.

Hello sir, My Name is Eric i am a sales consultant at Eddie Yaklin Ford in Kingsville Texas. I agree with you entirely that a mustang would be a great gift for your grandaughter but you also specify you want something that doesnt have alot of power behind the pettle well a v6 mustang would work out but i would suggest a Ford Fusion really take a look at them they are really nice cars and for girl stand point i have sold 4 and they have all been women who buy them

I would highly recommend not giving a teenage girl a mustang gt to drive...they are horrible drivers to begin with and giving her a v8 powered rear wheel drive car isnt gonna help that at all, she will just end up crashing it!!!
Get her a Mitsubishi Eclipse...its a total girl car, its slow, and its safe...or a VW Bettle...thats a girl car too...or how about a Honda Civic? They are great cars and get excellent gas milage
So lets review....Eclipse, Bettle, Civic. No Mustang.

Even the Non-GT is pretty darn fast!! The Mustang is a great car....definitely not too girly! She'd be the envy of her friends with one of those.

Don`t get her the GT. unless you want her to kill herself. If she really knows how to handle that much power, which most woman don`t,no offense to the ladies, get her the six cylinder.Great on gas, and has plenty of power for her needs, that`s the smart choice for a young girly girl. The V-8 will be a bit too much incertain situations on the road. Good luck! Here`is some choices,Mitsubishi Eclipse, VW, Ford Explorer,ECT...I wouldn`t get her a sports car if you can avoid it, sh`s tooooooo young yet. God Bless you.

Oh man. Think before you buy! Do you want to go to her funeral?? What kids LIKE to drive, and what they SHOULD drive are not the same things!!! Think of her safety, and think seriously of protection during an accident. She needs a larger car, with neither a huge engine nor a lot of power! I don't know where you live, but if you read the local paper, you'll see TONS of reports of kids getting injured and/or killed in cars that are just too powerful for them to handle. Cars like that need some experience. Please rethink this.

Do not get the GT, it is a V8 and for a starter car I would not recommend. Besides insurace will be sky high. If it was me I would get a cheap used car in good shape, but thats me.
