You'd need a jumpstart I suppose, like a large group of friends or something. Then you need something catchy that a lot of people like or want. To go from Cult to Religion would be pretty tough though, but with 6 billion people there are those who do it. Think of it like... natural selection. Those religions that say to kill other religions and have many children (or some children), those are the ones that live.

I never gave this question a lot of thought before, but it is worth thinking about!
There are a lot of very sad folk about all looking for something or someone to believe in, they are in need of a form of drug, some have found it already in whatever load of religious BS they now have.
But others are still looking, so there is a market for a new religion, now the big question is how to exploit it??
I'll leave you to sort that out, I am an atheist but I certainly do not believe in exploiting the gullibility of weak minded folk, so whatever you come up with you will find people like myself just waiting in line to tell others what a load of BS it all is!!

Very Easy. Just look at christianity. It was the "new kid on the block" in it's day. There are many religions that were thousands of years older than christianity yet it is one of the largest religions today.

Well, at first they're called cults. It's actually pretty hard to get one of them to take off and become an actual widespread religion. The last people to actually make this work were the Mormons.

Hubbard didn't seem to have a problem doing so. He set up a whole religion based on a science fiction novel. Smith set one up on his "interpretation" of some plates he got form a flea market. Christians set one up by making up stories about someone decades after his death so it matched, somewhat, the prophecies of an older religion.

Accept Islam as a true religion. I invite you as well as those who read this message. The only relgion which has given this world the knowledge of politico-socio-economic system and the meaning of democracy with equality the uppermost Right to every follower. The things now the world talks had been adviced 1400 years ago.

I don't think it would be hard at all. Finding followers could be another matter though. Don't know never started a cult/religion before. Thinking about it though. Seems very profitable.

Deny that Jesus died an the cross
deny He was ressurrected
deny He is the Son of God
deny he is Messiah
Proclaim yourself a prophet who believes in Allah..
who tells people to kill the infidels....
...wait... we already have that false religion

If your popular and in High school it would be the easiest thing in the world. I mean look at all of the stupid stuff people do now a days just because someone else did it.

they have it is Christians the bible has so many different versions of the man made book called the bible it is like having a new religion every hundred years
