huh? Among Philipino, as others, you'll find some good shots, others who could'nt hit a barn. In general, they'll be good at jungle warfare. They're born and raised in an area teaming with jungle. An m-14 is (if I'm not mistaken) a decent rifle. And historically, the phlippino's have been good, upstanding people; and among the toughest fighters you could find.

The M-14 battle rifle, successor to the M-1 Garand, is currently being offered for sale out of the Anniston arsenal to qualified civilian marksmen, under the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). You never hear of a crime being committed with either gun. They mostly go to the target ranges, since they're a bit heavy to hunt with and not really intended for use with a scope.
I'd like one, but will pass because it has a detachable 20-round magazine and a bayonet lug. This alone is enough to technically define it as an assault rifle and subject to confiscation, if Democrat Senators Schumer, Kennedy, Lautenberg, Feinstien and Clinton are given their way. Maybe law-abiding shooters can keep their old M-1's, with their 8-round clip, for a while. Maybe, together, we can even vote those senators out of office.

A filipino in the jungle, with minimal training and with a rifle would tie up up to 10 regular uniformed forces. Just ask the Japanese in WWII. What that means is would take up to 10 soldiers to hunt down and try to kill one filipino guerrilla.
Doesn't sound like much? Imagine you need 100 soldiers for an attack. The problem is your 100 soldiers are tied up elsewhere, chasing down TEN guerrilla fighters. Now imagine this happening all over a country. 100 here, 100 there. Suddenly you have a whole division or more of people tied up just chasing insurgents instead of fighting as part of the overall effort.
Read up or google on Wendel Fertig. When the Filipines fell, he refused to lay down arms. Instead he promoted himself to General, US Forces in the Filipines and ended up recruiting over 30,000 troops, a grand majority Filipino plus whatever US troops remained behind. They played monumental hell on the Japanese troops, because they became masters of guerrilla warfare, plus they were defending their own country, so nationalism played a huge part into this.
Why only 30,000? There were many more volunteers. 30,000 was the number of people at arms and organized. Had they secured more weapons they could have had many more.
BTW, Wendell Fertig was one of the founding members of the US Special Forces school in Ft. Bragg, NC.

I would rate them pretty high. Those that I met were surprisingly good shots. and the M-14 sniper variant is pretty accurate. Having fired one, I know. The M-14 was retired because it was heavy and wooden (requiring more maintainance), and the M-16 could carry more ammo, among other reasons. as long as I'm not on the recieving end, I'm golden. As for the 10 to 1 comment that is very assuming. It really depends on what kind of unit you're dealing with, and what kind of equipment they have.

Most of those armed with 7.62mm M-14 are rated snipers (unless they are not military). There are other sniper rifles (such as modified 5.56mm rifles) used but it is the M-14 that packs the pickle punch (of course, not all can have the 50-cal Barrett).
Rating? Don't show your forehead in the bunker else you can imagine a watermelon smashed.

why being specific with filipino? anyone who knows how to use that rifle can do damage very bad. i think anyone can find a way especially if they are serious or in a very worst situation and being threatened..
regarding rating, if that gun is pointed at me, no matter who it is, i definitely give a rating of 10 from 1-10 and 100 in the percent rate. if it's your time to leave the earth, no matter how far or how novice is the shooter, you cannot ignore fate...
