If you can get his schedule changed to one nap it will be easier on both of you. My kids always had a nap right after lunch when they were that age and slept about 2 hours sometimes three. Still up long enough to wear themselves out again by bed time but not be cranky all day. If you are on a two nap schedule try holding off on the morning nap and see if you can get lunch in even at 11- then nap time. Just keep moving the time back a little later until you have what works for you. Up by 3 and you should be set for bed at eight. I always try to get the nap in about 12 or 12:30 to about 2:30. Good Luck

Every baby is different, there is no correct answer to that. If he is sleeping 3-4 hours, his little body must need the sleep. Don't listen to what "everyone" says..Do what makes your son the most comfortable. My son stopped napping all together at 1, my niece is 14 months and still takes 2 naps a day.

My 2 1/2 yr old does best with 2 naps. He's usually ready for one around 10 or 10:30 and sleeps until close to noon. Then another by 2:30 or so. His regular bedtime is 8pm and he sleeps through the night until he's woken up at 6am. If he doesn't get his naps or doesn't get at least one really good nap- he turns into an absolute bear by evening. On occassion when he hasn't gotten any naps (grandma isn't always reliable to put him down!) we've put him down around 5 or 5:30 and he's slept through until 6am.

Every baby has a different sleep cycle, but I think that since your son is not even a toddler, I suggest one to two naps a day. And when he is a toddler, then that's when the one nap a day that's about 3-4 hours long. But still, I think you really should consult his pediatrician.

Let you child guage how much sleep he needs. If he takes two naps then he probably needs them. If however too much sleep or not enough during the day is affecting his nights then try to re-schedule his day. I had one that took 4 hours worth of naps and 1 that took only about 1 hour worth of naps. Both were ok.

I watch a fifteen month old and he generally takes one nap a day that's between 1-2 hours. He goes down about 11 and has lunch when he wakes up.

I have three daughters, I always found it best to let them nap between 10- 1pm, it takes a little time but if you keep at it, you should be able to settle him at about 7. But these routines take time and patience. But its great if you can stick to it, you get to have precious spare time in the evening. Hope this helps some, this worked for me, but as you say all children are different, and do things at different stages. Just try and persevere with a routine when they are young, it makes it easier further down the road.
' start as you mean to go on' a really good philosophy. :-)
