If say..someone hit you over the head, rendering you unconscious but instead of falling to the floor you fall into a bath of water for example. Would your body fight breathing in the water as it would do if you were conscious? Or would you just lie there quietly sucking down the water until you drowned?

You would just lie there and breathe in the water. Our breathing is controlled by the 'primitive' part of our brain that does not require conscious control. However if you are close to waking up, the water in your lungs will bring you to consciousness very fast.

That is how Police know if someone that is dead ...was put in the water while alive or dead.

But, let's hope that doesn't happen to you.

Depending on the severity of how hard you were hit. You could very easily drown. If the effects of the blow were not that severe, the inhaling of the water could bring you to a high enough state of consciousness to be aware of what is happening. Many people have drown due to a blunt head trauma and then fallen in water, especially in boating accidents.

well i have an experience to tell you that is somewhat like that. i have absence seizsures. sometimes i'll just stare blankly, or i will go unconscious for about 1 minute or 2. when i was about 7 years old, i was underwater in a pool when i went suddenly unconscious. if my moms friend hadnt have seen me sinking in the pool, i would have died. but being totally unconscios means your brain is shut off and doesnt recognize what your body might be going through. unless someone were to save you from the bath water... you would eventually drown if you didnt "wake up" in time to save yourself.

As I stated last week. Someone once told me that there are no STUPID questions, this question makes me wonder.
