You can take God out of my school
You can make me listen to you
You can take God out of the pledge
But you can't take God out of my head

Listen to me closely, lend me your ear
The substance of my statement lets you know I'm sincere
Government officials, shapers of the land
I've to to tell you something you need to understand

You can't take God away from me
You can take my life, my land, my liberty
Lock me up, I'll still be free
'Cause you can't take God from me

You can take God out of the law
You can make me listen to ya'll
You can take God out of the start
But you can't take God out of my heart

Listen to me closely, lend me your ear
The substance of my statement lets you know I'm sincere
Government officials, shapers of the land
I've to to tell you something you need to understand

You can't take God, you can't take God away

You don't say who wrote this piece, but I like it. No. No one can take God away from me. I remember when I was in fifth grade and President Kennedy had been shot. We were standing in the hall in line to go somewhere when we got the news and everyone stopped, bowed their heads and prayed for him. That wouldn't happen now. Have you ever noticed that every religion except Christianity is taught in school? Is allowed to be discussed in school? But don't let a Christian girl want to thank God during her valedictory speech. These are the kinds of things Christ told us would happen as we approached His return. The more they take these things away from us, the more we must pray to God for the strength to bear witness for Him and for the Holy Spirit to give us the right words. God bless you for sharing this gem.

You are so right! People can say what they want to. Governments can outlaw whatever they choose. Nothing can take God out of the heart of a born again, spirit-filled Christian!! We've suffered persecution forever but we've held fast to the only one that will never forsake us. We're covered by the blood of the cross of Calvary. Thank you for sharing your faith. God bless!

Your god, you see, is just pretend
When you die it is the end.
But believe what nonsense that you will
I don't care if you wish to be a Republican shill.

Nobody is taking god from school
If you think it is, you are a fool.
The Pledge never had god in it,
before the McCarthy bullshit.

The Founding Fathers originally saw,
That god in government makes bad law.
If you want true liberty,
Get off my back and I'll let you be.

No matter how you wish to sugar coat
cramming your superstition down my throat
I won't stand for your tyranny
as you try to install your theocracy.

Not buying your bullshit is not a sin
It doesn't make me a second-class citizen.
You fool, you do not realize
That your own religion's harmed by your lies.

This is a Christian nation that is true,
And Islamic, Atheistic, and Mormon, too.
We have Jews and Catholics, that's a fact.
So take your Dominionistic garbage back.

Believe what you will, I just don't care
Unless you wish to get in my hair.
"E Pluribus Unum", out of many one,
Sorry, but "In God We Trust", doesn't represent everyone.

IIn a Democracy - God belongs in church. Freedom of (and from) religion belongs in schools and government.

If you want a theocracy (one God and one religion), go to Iran.

Excellent poem...although it does remind me of the theme song from "Firefly". You are correct, my dear, they can't take God away from you. No one can. Blessings.
