From what I have read birth control pills can increase weight however, it is typically only a few pounds.

If you are sexually active and do not want to have a baby then I would NOT suggest getting off of the pill just because you are gaining weight. It is the most effective weapon agaisnt unwanted pregnancy short of not having intercourse.

If you know you are eating right, drinking a lot of water and exerciseing and you are still gaining weight then talk to your doctor. This could be something different or he/she could put you on a different pill.

Some birth control pills do make you gain weight, and others cause you to lose weight. It all just depends on how your body reacts to it. Also, your body might just be adjusting to it since you've only been taking it for a month. If you're really concerned about unusual weight gain, talk to your gyno about maybe changing the kind of birth control pill you take.

I was on Ortho-tri. I asked my doctor, when I was on birth control, how much weight is made you gain? She said that it made girl gained about 2-4 pounds a year. She said that excessive weight gain could be the pills and the extra hormones in the pills. Talk to your doctor.

I have heard of birth control pills making you gain weight. The important thing to remember about bc pills is that they are changing your hormones. So when that happens, you often can see other effects. If the weight is worrying you see your doctor about it, maybe he/she can get you on another brand or help you out.

They can make you gain weight! They pretty much mess with your hormones and it will wreak havoc on you! I was on the pill for 7 yrs and it did a job on my nervous system along with my hormones! I broke out with the hive when I had my allergy attacks after I stopped the pill. My system was trying to restart itself after being on the pill. I am so glad I don't need them anymore!!
