he might....it doesnt really matter wether he likes u or not...if he really likes u..he'll usually smile..and if he doesnt then he's just trying to act cool...but instead hes just acting stupid

Well if it happens that often...and you catch him looking at you often...I'd say yes.
Most people will smile because it's reflective of them...some give dirty looks, some smile...it's instinct and it's because they are nice people.
I smile at people all the time but you have to be careful that some people don't misinterpret that as something else. It's their problem if they do frankly. :~) Usually I take it as a sign that the person is approachable. As an adult now, I find it rude that someone would assume it's more as there are a lot more expressive signs of body language that girl would use if so! LOL
In your case I think he likes you so start slow and get to know him!

If a guy makes eye contact with a girl, he has no control over the curves of his mouth. He will tip his hand automatically, he cannot suppress his smile. So take it and GO.

lol he might be distracted by her good looks to smile, and will have a dumb expression of staring on his face, but thats the first time, after like 5 times a smile should occur..

He should unless he is the shy type. Then if you really want to get to know him, you can wave and say Hi to him. That is unless you are the shy type also, and in that case, you will need a girlfriend who is not shy to help you out.
