I believe that supermarket "own brands" are produced by the same company that makes the original product, but some change takes place to the recipe that makes it less attractive. Perhaps, for example, a little sugar or salt is left out or reduced in quantity.
This ensures that the supermarket has a cheaper product that they can offer, but it does not detract from the original suppliers sales by too much!

It actually varies from product to product.
I've seen the already described label swapping on some items so there is no difference to the goods. Alot of own brand goods are more comparable with the products you would find in an ALDI or a Lidl but not in German packaging. German food standards are higher but sold cheaper than over here.
There is also a sliding scale in quality depending on which store you are making for. Marks and Spencers standards were always higher than even your own, but the likes of ASDA / WALMART are the lowest of the low.

I guess tesco not only repackeged the product, the also compromised with the ingredient/quality.
I bought cookies from particular brand, my whole family loved em. The next time, i noticed there's tesco brand-the same cookies, the same manufacturer, so i bought them since it's cheaper. However, the taste is less satisfying....

I work for a company producing food for Tescos and other supermarkets in UK. Tesco have their own unique recipies and are produced seperately from other supermarket brands because of the differences.

sort call meals at the instant are not undesirable. confident there have been alot of meals recalled through fact of poisoned grain from China. China has been in the spot easy for alot of tricks. One occasion is their non fur products a lot of which become canine and each so often cat fur that became into skinned from stay animals-alongside with their lives, yet usually the call isn't what makes a sort extra appropriate or worse on your cat. often it somewhat is the great sort names that equipment to precise diets jointly with: kitten, geriatric, tender abdomen, crystal companies and so on. it somewhat is not often sturdy if the shopper buys the incorrect sort from the great manufacturers. the phobia in lesser megastar manufacturers is they stay extra low-budget very often by utilising utilising products that are extra low-budget and might end like the China fiasco did yet additionally they frequently contain ash. Ash builds up on your cat and over the years will kill her or him. the main reason that cats stay longer is extra appropriate cat meals, alot of vet care and the main important element is precisely indoor cats stay very plenty longer.

More or less, I even think some of the foods come from the same factory. They are much better value and sometimes taste even better than known brands

Who knows, but supermarkets need to sort out their amount of packaging and it would be nice to have homegrown products and not fruit from all over the world. Support local produce anyday! Much better.

No they are not totally the same. For instance, baked beans will not have all the sauce ingrediants in it.
Manufacturers who make for the chains change production lines completely for these products, they are done as separate batches and it is not just the labels that are changed.

The companies make the food and put them in a diffrent package. However they make them a bit worse so people will prefer their own food.
