First off let me correct a few others who answered without having a clue as to what they are talking about.

Richard J: Saddam did not fire DU ammo. the US did.

Stephanie: Weapons are not "Dipped" in DU. The rounds themselves are MADE from DU (Depleted Uranium)

Also DU is LESS radioactive than normal everyday Uranium found in soil around the world as it is made of two Isotopes of Uranium
U-239 and U-238. U-239 is what is taken out to be used in Nuclear reactor fuel rods. U-238 is whats left behind and is not very radioactive at all.

Now to the Askers question.

WOW! boy you can really spin things from nothing. You question assumes several things.
1) that there is a DU disease affecting babies in Iraq.
2) that there are Babies (PLURAL) not A Baby (Singular) that is being affected.

Your link is to a site that shows deformities in babies from different sites around the world (Not just Iraq) and from many different sources (Not just DU)

in point of fact there is ONLY ONE picture that purports to be a baby in Iraq suffering because of DU. and even that is not any sort of proof. let me quote your very own link on what it says about the photo.
"Child with previously unknown renal disease, first diagnosed in Iraq by Dr. Gunther. The speculation is that the child had played with DU ammunition casings."

so let me make a few points here.
1) it was an UNKNOWN renal disease, not a DU disease.

2) It was first reported in Iraq, which means it is also found elswhere.

3) It is SPECULATION that the child played with DU ammo casings.
Point three needs a few subpoints
3a) its speculation that the child even played with the stuff let alone got the disease from it.
3b) the casings are brass, not DU
3c) what part of SPECULATION did you not understand?

Before you go spreading more FEARMONGERING. please check into some facts yourself. thank you.

What a load of CRAP! It is called "Depleted Uranium" for a reason. IT IS DEPLETED! It has no more radioactivity than the drywall in your house or the asphalt in your street.

It is, however; very dense. Rounds are not "dipped" in it like said above. It is incorporated into the material that the projectile is made of. This makes the round very dense, enabling it to hold together long enough to pass through the armor of something like a tank. Used primarily in 30mm cannon.

NO. Iraq has huge public health issues because they are an underdeveloped country not because of spent shell casings. US Army soldiers take no special precautions in handling these munitions.

Depleted means the bad stuff is missing. Don't believe rumors based on ignorance

Has anyone seen the deranged dictator using nerve gas disease that instantly killed the babies in the streets for years while Saddam lived there, It's funny how it suddenly went away, do you think there's a correlation?

Could be, but if they had had a leader that cared about his people the ammo wouldn't have been fired in the area. Now they will pay for Saddam's macho BS for a few centuries, tough luck on them

Yes, it's real, but the US gov't is denying it. You won't hear this kind of stuff on the news in the US, you need to go to the foreign news sites.

Any links as proof? And whom are you accusing or using this weapon? Is it considered a WMD?

Not likely .
Enviromental factors like bad water , poor diet , breathing lead vapor while making bombs or ammunition are more likely .
