The main advantage is that everybody would have to take their decisions based on our own logic, not on imposed mandates that no one is allowed to discuss.

Besides, science would not be hindered by obscure interests, like those stopping it now.

Rationality would govern the world, and even appearances would not be so important. People would discuss through reason, not through slogans. Women would not be discriminated against. Or black people. Or gays. Or the Jewish. Or the Arabs...

People would have more free time on Sundays to spend it with their children.

The language would change, too. I mean, such expressions as "goodbye" (that comes from "God be by you"), "thank God", "bigotry" (also coming from "by God"), "Oh, Gee!" and the like would lose all meaning...

Condoms would be in normal use, which would make sex a more pleasing and a safer thing to do. This would lower sexual repression, and consequently sex crimes.

Drug consumption would be legalised. This would end the huge illegal drug business. Dealers would have to pay taxes, and it would not be so good business as it is now. This would reduce the whole thing, and addicted would be fewer...

Wow! Thank you for letting me dream a little...

Religious conflict, bigotry and war would end. We would also no longer have the most often used "ruse" to engage in war. The propaganda used both politically and religiously that our god is better than yours. Our way is better than yours. Our culture is better than yours. And all if this is better because ours is the one and only true god. The classic Catch 22 cycle, cycling over and over again.

Problem is, human beings have consciousness. This consciousness makes us aware of our own mortality. That end we must all face is terrifying. "That can't be it, now can it?" Enter religious philosophical thought. Enter opposing religious philosophical thought. Enter war and the cycle continues.

I've come to the conclusion that our life here on earth is Boot Camp. All of us are souls in various stages of development. Consequently, we will come back again and again and again, living lives as Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, et al with the religious beat going on until such time as we are fully ready to leave this plane of existence.

This world will never be fully atheist.

This world will never be fully Christian.

So live your life as best as you can. Try to keep open to all that life has to offer. Learn and become.

well, let's see . . .
everyone would be their own god, there fore devising their own moral code- everyone's would be vastly different because what I think doesn't hurt anyone else , you don't . Some would only see the immediate results- someone else would see the long term ramifications- there would still be an innate desire for wealth and power and some would still have no trouble trampling over whomever they needed to in order to get to the top- there would be fights over who has what, who did what, struggles and strife over power and authority, struggle and strife over who has the authority and right to create a moral code that we can all live by- hmm.. I would say the world would be pretty much like it is now except without hope!

Well, there would've been far fewer wars and problems over time because such a large proportion of them were caused by conflicting religions. Also, all the funding that goes into churches and such could be spent on healthcare and education. It wouldn't be better in every way, but the things I mentioned would.

Then people would more open minded and be able to understand who and what us animals are. People say they want peace and that is one way to get more of it. There would much less conflicts between nations and factions than now. Religion is not a blessing in any way. Sure would remove the biggest reason for one to hate another.

there wouldn't be anymore religious wars, people wouldn't fight over who's right and who's wrong. I personally am an atheist, but I do believe that if people want to believe in a god it's their choice. Hell, they might be right and you might be wrong, what then? Faith is a powerful thing in those that posess it and I respect those that have true faith. It's just that most christians today haven't ever read the bible, or the old testament, and if they have, they most certainly do not understand it. THat's just blind faith, which is wrong.

Everyone already said what I had to say. Above all though, I think the world would be better off.

When people stop expecting God to work miracles, they realize that the only way to get miracles is through the dedicated, combined effort of many people.

There would be a lot more scientists and doctors and there would probably be cures for many diseases which still plague us today.

Overall, I don't think that the world would be a better place.

However, the obvious answer is that we wouldn't have wars using religeon as a rationalization. Of course, we'd still have wars, injustice, and so forth but we'd have to simply blame ourselves and not God.

It wouldn't' there would still be wars and opinions that other don't agree in. There would be nothing to look forward to. Many Christians are kind because of what they learn about God, if they didn't have that... would they still be kind? I think the only thing it would stop is religious fighting about who has the better religion. At least there wouldn't be an cults!!
