Some people like my grandmother(RIP) actually loved burnt toast and would burn it on purpose. Odd yes but to eat their own when it comes to food.
I keep an eye on whatever I toast so it doesn't burn.

Toasters are no longer used just for toasting standard bread....They toast all sorts items of different thickness and all sorts of items that are frozen rock solid,,, You just possibly happen to only use it for one type of item..... Now, do you think you are missing out on something you haven't toasted? : )
or that you paid extra for extra settings on that $45 toaster for which you have no need for the extra settings. I would feel ripped off and just return the #%$^@ toaster. There may be a dollar store out there that has a toaster that has only one toast setting that is perfect for you ...
Just being facetious and trying to get on your nerves... I am now ready for your next question...

I use the highest setting for cooking my frozen french toast. I doesn't come out soggy then! If it wasn't for Aunt Jemima's frozen french toast, I wouldn't even own a toaster because I do not like toast at all.

I love burnt toast and deliberately burn it. Love it even more with raspberry jam on it. Also love burnt toasted teacakes. Weird I know!!! Lol. P.S I am a decent human being.

If you don't like your toast that dark then don't use that setting. That's why they give you a choice. Some people like it light and some like it really dark. It's a matter of taste.
