This was one of my problems until I started using Stack Body Tune Up on July 15, 2006. This has helped reduce my cravings. When I get bored now, my mind doesn't turn to food. I have lost 32 pounds in 69 days since.
I still snack, but it isn't in response to being bored. I plan snacks now.
If I can be of further assistance, let me know.

I have the same problem now and then. I found a good way to curb this behavior is to not buy snack foods that are fattening. I often bag up grapes or nuts and keep them handy. You can also buy low fat cheese sticks and low fat wheat crackers. Also, I have found that whenever I go to the fridge if I am not real hungry then just drink lots of water. Cold water is the best because your body will have to work on warming itself up so you'll be actually burning calories without even knowing it.

There are other things to do beside walking. Dance to music, at home, get out of the house go to museums etc.
Sitting around the house is boring and it's boredom that causes you to eat - so do things out side that are not boring. If you snack, then make it something like a veggie or fruit.

Find a hobby, that you really really like and keep yourself distracted and busy so you are not thinking about food. When you stock your pantry and fridge stock them with fruits, and vegetables, yogurt, milk, breads, cereals rather than cakes, cookies, pies, chips, soda etc. So even if you go to eat out of habit, you are getting something healthy.
Try to cook meals, and rely less on convenience meals so its not so easy to get junk foods.

Have your doctor check your metabolism. Also,
depression can play a be part if you are trying to loose weight. It does with me.
Thanks,

get a tredmill or excersise bike and put it in front of the tv. As long as you constantly use it, you could eat just about anything.
