They don't. They tell you that you can pray to God and have conversatiion with God. If you would like information on the religion, you can always call your local parish and speak to a priest. You confess your sins to a priest. This is more lilke therapy then anything. I think people used priests as shrinks, when there were no counslers in the world.

"It's All About The Money!" Even when people say it's not about the money, it's about the $$$. How sad is that? Interesting way of stating that question. In other words, you have to go through a priest to pray. In effect, the priest is the mediator between God and you. What if your priest/church was in VT and you are on a family vacation to Disney World and before mealtime, you wanted to pray for the food. You mean that you either have to call up your priest just so you can give a 30-second prayer over some food, or else you cannot pray at all. One if you have a bad dream at 3AM and wanted to pray. You're saying that you would have to call the priest at 3AM. Where is the logic in that?
Most priests are in this business for personal gain. Some of them do not care about their parishoners, just the $$$ that comes in the collection plate.
The Bible does not even mention you MUST go to a minister or preacher in order to pray. You can pray whenever you want. Go to the interior room as Daniel did in Ancient times. Go to a quiet area and pray. Matthew 6:9, 10 tells us how to pray. Moreover, when we pray, we must pray through Jesus, who is the mediator between us and God because of the ransom sacrifice. John 15:16 can be used to show that we should pray to Jehovah through Jesus Christ.

Prayer is a form of communication with God! You don't have to go to the Priest for God to hear you! Jesus was the bridge back to God! Jesus made a way for all of us to go to God! You don't have to do any of it! You can pray and seek God yourself but in the beginning you will need some help at first! You would also need people around you for support! Thats the purpose for the church! The church is supposed to help you with whatever your needs may be! I just pray to God myself and things get done! I'm not Catholic.

History.... The Catholic Church was the first. Unfortunately, the priests would not let the people read the Bible and they would tell them what to believe and tell them money would get them to Heaven. It was too expensive to publish books. This all had to be done by hand and cost a fortune and no one could afford it. The priests lied to their people and the people were afraid and stayed in the Church. Mind you, this was YEARS ago. WHen the Bible became public, the people saw that the Catholic church was lying and broke off into several other religions. I believe Prodestant was the next to be born. I learned all this in my college History courses and found it very interesting. I do believe that Catholics are taught to confess sins to God and one other person.. so a priest it is

I'm sorry you have been given misinformation about the Catholic denomination. We do NOT in any way shape or form believe you can only communicate through a priest. the priest is there as a teacher, a helpmate. he helps us when we need to talk through situations with a moral conscience.
The priest is also there to help in bible study. contrary to misinformed yet popular belief, there are many bible studies that take place in the Catholic church. the bible is also what our mass is all about with readings and gospel teachings.
the priest is there as the head of our little parish here on earth - just as a father is to his family. he is there to help guide us in our walk with Christ.
God Bless you.

Catholics don't believe it is the only way. I don't know, maybe some do. But those are just people that can't think for themselves anyway. People need to stop lumping people into these categories.
I think everyone should take a good objective comparative religions class, there would be so much more understanding and peace in the world.

Again, they don't. They feel a priest can help them in their own communication with God. Some people need all the help they can get.

Seems most arguments can be stopped if one believes what the Bible says..... No one is the mediator but Me! Really paraphrased but the message is the same. Is only one of the many changes of scriptural intent.. even dropped the 2nd commandment, changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday.. who knows what else. Of course there are all the books that have been removed from the Bible also. Is larger tome than your present Bible.
