Guerrillas work best when there is an element of opression, because one of the requirements of an effective guerrilla force is the ability to "live off the land." By this I mean that the guerrillas have to be able to move around, crash in other people's property, etc. without alienating the locals. An effective guerrilla always buys, never steals. Also, they can't force the locals to join, it has to be volunteer or it will eventually dissolve.

This is how it was done in the Filipines during WWII.

As for a paramilitary group, you need former service personnel to act as the cadre and leadership core. You will of course need training grounds and government sanctioning, otherwise you will end up being a target of the host government.

1. Have plenty of cash to buy hardware (provided you can get them legitimately) and pay and pay-off people.
2. Have warm bodies who will obey orders (otherwise you'd have a ragtag undisciplined armed unit that can be branded as a hoodlums, bandits or, worse, terrorists).
3. Find trainers (retired Special Operations are ideal).
4. Have a political cause that all the people you recruit believe in.

Finally, prepare to be assaulted by the country's combined military and police forces for posing an imminent threat to the peace and order, political and social stability, and national security.

Look at the cases of the warlords in Somalia and in other parts of the world... and learn the lessons from them.

There are any number of treatises that cover revolutionary warfare. Try looking for them.

As for the process, anyone with serious knowledge would have to be a complete idiot to expound on it here in an open source website. Your motivations as well on finding it "interesting" are extremely suspect.

I suggest you go read some good histories on insurgencies, including those currently active and those which terminated in the 20th century. Anyone who assists you further, whether they have actual expertise in the subject matter or no, would have to be a complete fool.

Become a citizen of Sealand (A micro-nation) - You can start your build up without government interference (aside from Sealand's but there are only five of them)

Best bet A) find a good cause that you can use to recruit people. B) Find cash to finance the operation...

And you're away.
