throw her a RIP party
(no joke, i had a friend do this when their dad turned 50)
black decorations
have guests dress in black
serve chocolate cake or cupcakes decorated with black icing
i have even purchased blank sympathy cards, on the outside it would say
deepest sympathies
inside i put
on your 50th birthday, sit back ,
relax, and RIP on your special day

Try to get her friends and family involved. If you can fly out for the party maybe someone could make a cake, someone could bring food. Ask people to send you copies of their favorite photos of your mother and have them write their favorite stories about her. Make her a poster or a book with it all.

Take your money and fly in for the weekend. That's the best thing
most moms can have.
