I feel ya! The relationship I am in is sorta like that, except my guy thinks he is showing me love and affection by cooking supper. I had a messed up childhood as well (parents divorced EACH OTHER 3 times, i was raped at 16, and molested by a uncle when I was much younger)...yeah, pretty messed up situation. In my relationship we have been having all kinds of problems and finally figured out I am very needy when it comes to affection. He on the other hand gives affection, just in different ways from the "norm". Thing is, you have to sit down and talk about this. Figure out what he sees as affection, and tell him what you see as affection and come to a compramise. That is what we did and things are much better now. Sometimes I lapse and think he doesnt care, but then I think about what he sees he is doing that is affectionate and even though we dont kiss and hug a lot, I know he does love me. I hope things work out for you dear.

The best thing to do would be to sit him down and talk to him about how you're feeling. Tell him how it makes you feel and if he truly does love you, he will be understanding and make a conscious effort to make things better. If you talk to him honestly and he still makes no effort then I would suggest cutting your ties and finding someone who cares about your feelings. If he ignores you now it will only get worse over the years, trust me. I've been there.

Write him a letter explaining what you are feeling. Then after he reads it discuss it with him. I think it might make him understand better. Good luck.
