I would say New Zealand, a stable economy, good weather and little crime to worry about, and a fantastic laid back lifestyle.

I was reading this in an article once recently, and I agree with those who say New Zealand. I was shocked to find that the US was 26th in education and 38th in health... Kind of makes you wonder what we could have done with that 394 billion we spent saving ourselves from the "terrorist." I live in Florida in a city deemed "best city to live in" in Money magazine in 1996. I like it just fine, but it does give you some thoughts when there are people screaming about how great this country is. In a great country there is always room for improvement, I just hope the people we elect realize that we are falling further and further behind much of the rest of the world and the Roman Empire should be an example of what can happen when improvement is not a top priority...

The human development index is a measure by the United Nations (UN) that takes into account, health, education and wealth as a means of indicating the most developed country. The current top 5 are:

5. Canada
4. Luxembourg
3. Australia
2. Iceland
1. NORWAY

This is only an indication, and there are countless other measures aiming to calculate which is the best country.

I am biased I am going to have to say the good old USA. I don't know of any country that has the perfect economy, lifestyle, president, and weather. There is always going to be something wrong somewhere.

It really depends on what you want. If you're a conservative republican the USA have a great president for you right now, but if you're a liberal with socialist tendencies they have a terrible president.

And there are different tastes about weather as well. At least we can all agree on what a good economy is. Or can we?

It all depends on your values and beliefs.
You may want the bright lights, you may want the quiet life. You may want to be part of a family centric community or you may want to be in the thick of it.

Your own political religious values come into play. If you are an orthodox Jew, you would not feel your ideal country to an Arab state. Similarily if you have extreme left wing values bordering on communism, America would not be ideal.
Me I like morocco. Its a progressive tolerant country with a blend of eurpoean and arab and african cultures.

Obviously its the UK. We have decent food (sort of), a Head of state that can spell (unlike our friends across the pond), Excellent economy, considering our size and limited export prospects, fantastic lifestyle, as we are free to do pretty much anything we please, especially compared to, again, our American buddies, who no matter what they claim about the Land of the Free, can't really do bugger all. And no be honest, the weather is pretty good as well. I love it, RULE BRITANNIA!!

Good question. Often people believe that countries they have visited on holiday are the best and make a big mistake when they decide to sell up and move there. For me all the countries I have visited have things that make them desirable places to live in ~ for me California takes some beating and I'm a Brit.
