Every year, right after their birthdays, most children have at least a small growth spurt. Some years it's bigger than others.

Children reach 3/4 of their max height by age 9. The greatest growth spurts occur generally between birth and 2 years. during the first for months after birth generally the baby quadruples in size. This is due to the fact that it is a naturally developed immune defense that we have inherited through evolution.
at age 18 most people are 90%-100% full size.
I would check out a text book in Human Development from a library. You'll get exact information there.

Here is some info:
No child grows at a perfectly steady rate throughout this period of childhood, however. Weeks or months of slightly slower growth alternate with mini "growth spurts" in normal children. Kids actually tend to grow a bit faster in the spring than during other times of the year!
A major growth spurt occurs at the time of puberty. Usually kids enter puberty between age 8 to 13 years in girls and 10 to 15 years in boys. Puberty lasts about 2 to 5 years. This growth spurt is associated with sexual development, which includes the appearance of pubic and underarm hair, the growth and development of sex organs, and in girls, the onset of menstruation.
By the time girls reach age 15 and boys reach age 16 or 17, the growth associated with puberty will have ended for most teens and they will have reached physical maturity.

There's not a standard set of growth spurts programmed in, y'know. It's different for each child.

I know the early ones. 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and a year. After that I am not sure... I have a super tall toddler, and it seems like he goes through one every 2 months!
