Sounds like you're not ready to take that step .
Go back to school or get a job and concider the idea in a year .

First, you've got to pass the ASVAB to see what kind of training you'll qualify for after basic training. The military could be a great place for you to learn a rewarding vocational skill that you can use even after you've completed your military "hitch". But remember this, once you put your name on that dotted line, there's no turning back. You can't just disappear and show up again on a whim. They call this going "AWOL," or being absent without leave, and the consequences are severe, not just a slap on the wrist.

If you don't do well on the ASVAB this time, maybe you should consider going over to your local community college and seeing a guidance counselor. The guidance counselor will be able to make assessments of where you're at academically and help you make some good choices in regards to pursuing a career and getting you enrolled in the appropriate cousework.

I do wish you the best. Just don't do something hasty.

You should sign-up for 5 years. With your ADD and mild learing disorder you're more suited for military that civilian life. You should join the army and never leave. You'll fit in, have a million friends and love it.

Show up, make your appointments and keep them, be honest, and make sure that you aren't going to piss hot, or flunk the damn test first. It's just like with anything, you show a little effort, and you will get some back. Good luck....
