Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate." Does anyone know how to solve this problem and what i need to do. That would be a HUGE help! THANX!

I have a fairly new version of Windows XP so I don't think it is because my computer is old and I also followed the first answerer's advice and it says that I have DirectX 9.0 up and running.

Addressing your additional details ----

SOMETIMES... what happens is that when the new vid card drivers are installed, the old one isn't completely uninstalled. (I had this problem once too, but not for Sims 2). At anyrate, completely uninstalling drivers for old vid cards to resolve any conflict usually solves this.

The other thing to do is go to EA support and go through their step by step procedures on this matter. If you cannot resolve it then, write to the Contact Us tab on the right/top, and they will email you and try to help within the next day or so. They are wonderful and very helpful.

Also you can test your machine...
In the black box, pick The Sims 2 - or the version in question

You may not have DirectX 9.0c installed. In the Run menu (Just press the window key and R together) type DXDIAG. At the bottom it will tell you what version you are running. IF it is not 9.0c then download directx from www.microsoft.com/directx.

Good Luck

maybe your video card on your computer is too old to run directx 9.0c. That file should be on the cd

ensure you have all of the areas. each so often rar documents are chop up into 2 or extra products. in case you recognize you have all of them, they might purely be corrupted. get carry of them back and attempt it. so an prolonged way as areas.. the place you downloaded it, did it say something like "Brunette hair get carry of - part1" or get carry of all 3 of those documents for it to artwork? they're often sufficiently small to not be broken up yet you on no account understand. what's the "broken" blunders that comes up maximum? Edit: Mad reproduction/paste skills there Adam
