When do you normally recieve a first letter from a marine? I keep checking the mail everyday and still have nothing. Could it take him two weeks to write? I am going crazy not knowing how he is doing both mentally and physically.

Be patient Sweet Pea. Marine Corps boot camp is very tough, especially the first weeks. He will eventually get some time to write, but keep in mind he is going through some of the toughest training in the world. He will be fine as he is in good hands. I know because I spent 30 years in my beloved Marine Corps and wouldn't trade it for anything. Please thank him for his willingness to serve this great country. Semper Fi.

First off...are you married or just the girlfriend. Most times single marines will be able to write or call thier next of kin first. They are also REALLY busy and structured the first few weeks. It could take a few weeks before he can get a letter out, and also depends on the LOVELY postal service getting the letter to you.

Contact his mother or father. The next of kin are required to get a letter the day her checks into his platoon. Which is after all his processing-- usually about a week. The letter is generic, written by each recruit, but the words are dictated by his Drill Instructor. It is just to provide a reassurance to his family that he is safe, and will be able to write soon. Less formal letters will follow!

My hubby only wrote to me about 5 times when he was at bootcamp and he only called once. I wouldn't worry too much about him, just keep sending him letters and keeping yourself busy. Try joining a Yahoo! group especially for military wives, g/f's and fiancees. If it weren't for other wives and such, I would have never made it.
