I would probably consider moving them to a friend's house or boarding them for a while. The noise, dust, strangers walking around with all of those tools, the general chaos and the fumes are not going to do a bit of good for them.
They could end up traumatized.
You didn't state what kind of birds they are, but if they are used to a quiet house with a regular routine, this is going to seem like hell on earth to them.
You might end up with some nasty fallout from this: Plucking, behavioral issues...etc.
I am not one to overly dramatize things, but if you are doing the entire house and this is going to be going on for months, I would seriously think about a temporary move for them.
You would have to regularly visit them and perhaps bring them back for the weekend, but this remodeling thing is not going to be helping them in the long run.
My birds are pretty used to a lot of different people, noises and stuff going on. I've had some remodeling work go on, but nothing extensive.
This sounds like you might need to move them if they're reacting so strongly already by not eating.
Then when it's all over and peace is restored, you can return them home.
Please remember that animals live "in the moment". They will not be worried too much about the temporary move if their regular routine is peaceful until they can return home.
Don't feel bad about it. It will be a temporary move until you can bring them back to a nicer place to live and there is nothing to worry them.
Good Luck

Hi,
I would suggest a temporary lodging for your bird. It's extremely important that birds be kept from any fumes, chemicals, dust, etc. They are such small creatures that even small amounts of toxins can do them great harm.
We painted and changed our flooring in a small bathroom and I boarded my baby for the entire time plus an extra day so that the fumes had time enough to fade. I miss him, but at least I know he'll come back home healthy.
Also, you may need to have them see a vet if you already sense something isn't right.

Is there a room in your house, that you can move the birds too...the dust will bother them, and the noise just gets them more upset...also put a towel over them....they need quiet to get them through this...good luck...

They should me moved to a rook that isn't under construction, with the door closed, and a towel at the bottom of the door to keep dust and fumes out. It would also help to have a radio playing softly for them, I leave classical on for mine, It seems to calm them and will help muffle the construction sounds.
Good luck!

Is it possible to move them to a room that isn't being worked on? A bedroom maybe? Depending on how long the remodeling will take, maybe see if you can keep them at a friend's or family member's place till it's done.
