i have had a friend for 10 years. we were casual friends.
we used to work together 7 yrs ago. she was good at her job but yet sick with back problems alot.
years later she is well of back problems and had just got over bad nerves(almost a breakdown) some one had scammed her for money via internet(cosby adams!) watch him.
anyway, she was at home sad , so i offered her a job w/me.
iam one of the managers at a fast food chain.
she is friendly but moves alot slower. she is good at stocking, cleaning etc., but constantly needs back up, even at times that most others could handle low volume.(5 guests!) ive noticed that she now tells little fibs to suit her own purposes. ive confronted her, she always says she isnt lying.
the only lies she has admitted to me was how she lied at first about this romance/internet scammer. but we have aggued on ims lately, i dont want to work with her anymore, other managers see her slowness and she cahts way too much w/customers slowing times. advice?

I am a resturaunt owner myself, and after counseling her a couple of times, and she shows no imporvement. you need to let her go. The position of being a friend must take back burner when you are running a business and someone is not carrying their weight and it effects the opperation of your business.

Well, since she was hired by a manager, I would say let the manager handle her inevitable exodus.

You can still manage to be neutral and kind to her. You've already confronted her about her work ethic and although she disregards your advice, your work is done. There's nothing more you can do.

Don't be rude or unkind to her, but make it clear to her that you will be concentrating on your job when you are at work, not socializing. If she takes it personally, that's her problem.

Jesus was a kind person, but he was no fool. He still had emotions just like we do. He was firm when he had to be. (i.e. the money changers in God's temple - if you'll recall, he lost his temper)

It sounds like you are a kind hearted person who's motives are only good. I wish you the best!

you are a manager and as such have duties and obligations to your employer to provide a service to the customers in a timely manner. if you can not transfer this person to a position where she can be useful as an employee then you need to get tough. having been in the same situation I was flatly told by my supervisor " either that person or you. " I retired from there. this is not a matter of Christianity but performance of a job related situation.

Just suggest that this job may not be right for her, that she needs something less demanding in critical timing.
