This day is supose to represent the last of the first 7 days of creation when God rested? I know the Sabbath Day was originally said to be given to the Jewish tribe from God and was Friday at dusk, until Saturday at dusk in relation to our current calendars. If you read the Holy Bible, you find that Jesus obeyed this Sabbath even in his death!!! He died just before sundown on Friday and there is special mention of it in a few places of the text. He than rested the whole Sabbath and returned on Sunday. Don't you Christians feel that people of your churches history have messed with this holy day among many other things that are far from what Jesus told people to do? He said that he was not here to change the Jewish scriptures of the past, but only to help fulfill them! Do any of you think the whole religion of Christianity could be a twisted version of the truth which has been used only to manipulate people? Isaac Newton seemed to think so!

Not totally true samsscripture. That was a reason given far later. I agree some still honor the Sabbath on Saturday but far from the majority of Christians.

I really thank you for that answer KNOWBIBLE. I will look into that. I think your one point about Newton being partly right is perhaps out of place however. The things in my question are mine and none of it Newton's. However Newton did learn Hebrew and ancient Greek and transalated the texts himself and found coruptions and manipulation in the scriptures and teachings by the Catholic Church. That was the only referance I meant about Newton. In fact he translated these texts himself and became convinced that Jesus was not the one and only son of God, but another prophet. Similar to what the Muslims believe actually.

To that other person who asked, no I'm not a SDA. I belong to no organized religion.

Alot of depth to this question.
First, yes, I do think that a great many denominations are twisted versions of the truth used to manipulate people, and to take their money. Possibly most "Christians" are involved in this type of scam, and don't even realize it. But don't you think God will judge them by what is in their hearts, anyway? I do. Thankfully, we don't have to answer to Isaac Newton, as wise as he was...but to God.
I also agree with you about the Sabbath...to a point. I think people have gotten a bit confused about what was the actual purpose of the Sabbath in the first place. It was primarily a day of rest, not necessarily a day of worship, let alone THE day of worship. The Jews of the time were considered "lazy" by the surrounding nations, because they took an entire day off of their labors...something hard for us to understand in our age of electric stoves, dishwashers, refridgerators, washer and dyers, etc....
We forget that, to those ancient people EVERY day was a day of worship, as it still ought to be for Christians today.
Now, we have one group of people feeling superior to the rest of Christianity, because they go to church on Saturday, thus, they tell themselves, "keeping the Sabbath". Yet, I have noticed a great many of these folks out and about on Saturday afternoon...taking their kids out to dinner, for instance, after church, like any other Sunday Christian, or going shopping...even gassing up the car, all of which would mean that they are paying someone to work for them, thus they have broken the commandment they are so proud of keeping. One must understand just what it is that they are trying to do, I guess.....
David T's answer was simple and to the point, and I think it will serve well for me, too.
On Saturday, I will rest and meditate in God's Word...and, yes, I will take time to play, and to laugh, because laughter is the music of the soul.
And on Sunday, I will thank my God for the opportunity to fellowship with other like-minded Christians.
I will worship God every day....

The real answer is that back in the middle ages when Christianity was starting to get a stranglehold on most Western Lands, they felt it easier to convert the day of the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday because Sunday was the pagan day of worship. Since peasants at the time were mostly polytheistic and pagans, this eased the transition to Christianity by having their days of worship coincide. When they also found out that supposedly one God was the answer to everything instead of their individual Gods, they made the switch.

This change was brought about by the Catholic church many centuries ago. With the intent to present their total authority over the masses and the growing number of offshoots which were beginning to crop up.

If one recalls, there was a meeting of the east and the west, the first split of the church. The east maintained the Saturday tradition, inasmuch as it was ordained by God. The Catholic church chose to change the day to Sunday (knowingly or unknowingly) which actually defied the word of God. They also dropped the second commandment.

This goes back to all of us being sinners every day. While you are critizing others for which day is the Sabbath, I'll just bet you still watch TV, prepare your food 3 times that day or use your microwave, wash dishes, drive your car, use your computer, feed any pets you might have. And you do it all on the sabbath. If you do all of these things on the sabbath whether it is done on a saturday or on a sunday, you truly are NOT keeping the sabbeth holy. Because we are not do work or do anything except worship the Lord on that day.

Exodus 31:14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Leviticus 23:39 Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.

Exodus 32:15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

Exodus 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Maid servants cook, clean etc. so we can't either on the Sabath.

The Sabbath day is Saturday. Some Christians do honor it , Seventh Day Adventists .the Sunday honoring came as a result of the Resurection on Sunday and a change into the new times.

Many (MATT.7:13)people are (1COR.3:18-19)blinded and misled and take for granted things such as the Sabbath, Jesus's Death, etc. because that's what they've been taught. Yes, they are minupulated! Hardly any do research any more to prove the things they've been taught. The Bible says "to prove all things" in 1THESS.5:21. But what I have seen, many religions do not do this and are one sided; they're not open-minded to other sides.

I believe why people keep Sunday is because they think God changed the day or that Jesus rose that day or they believe it's the seventh day or some say they need a Sabbath day so they pick a day out of seven. Most (Matt.7:13) follow the crowd and and are not aware why they keep Sunday. I believe why they justify it because (2TIM.4:3; MATT.15:9)they think they're more smarter than God.I used to keep it because everyone else did; but when I found out the truth December of 2005 about the Sabbath being Saturday--I kept it and still do today.
Look Sabbath up in Encyclopaedia Americana, Vol.24, pp.68-69.
The Calendar also tells us the 7th day is Saturday

I don't know if you're a SDA or not, but you're just receiving the milk of the word.(1COR.3:1-3). The milk of the word is nice to (1PET.2:21; COL.2:6)lead you to Jesus til (2TIM.1:9)God calls you out of 2nd Babylon into his church(EPH.4:4; 5:27; ACTS 20:28)to follow Jesus completely in every way. If you are a SDA; you're probably not aware that Jesus kept the Feast Days in Lev.23 as the Apostles?

As I grew up, I learned theres two sides of an issue: (HEB.5:14)the right side and the wrong side. Yes, alot of religious leaders say their right, but when it comes down to it "can they prove it?" "There is a way that seemeth to be right unto a man, but the end therefore are the ways of death" = PROV.14:12. Yes, many christian groups do twist texts out of context and some are: the Sabbath, Jesus's Death, Colossians and Ephesians and etc.
It seems to me that you made a point about the Sabbath. Yes the Sabbath is Saturday; Jesus kept it like the Apostles. But what makes you so sure (2Tim.2:18)Jesus died Friday and rose Sunday; scriptures don't say that! It seems you only have heard one side too; are you being deceived like many others? I guess Isaac Newton was right partly; all of christianity are being deceived except for God's Church that has standed through the ages of time.

------------JESUS'S DEATH AND RESURRECTION------------------
***JESUS DIED WEDNESDAY APRIL 14, 31AD

A good foundation (1Tim.6:19) has solid ground evidence. The foundation should include 2Tim.3:16; Isaiah 28:9-10; 2Peter 1:19-21; 1Thess.5:20-21 & Ephes.5:9-10,13. To understand deeply--you must use these websites:

If you read Daniel 9:27; it says "he died in the middle of the week"; that would be Wednesday. This is followed by "3 days & 3 nights" = Matthew 12:40 which equals 1-24hr.day x 3days equals 72hrs. in grave. Next the Bible tells us it would be "after 3days and "not before = Matt.27:63-64 and Mark 8:31. It tells us in three days (John 2:19-21) and not after. The Bible also reminds us a day is 12hrs. not including the night(John 11:9-10). Remember also Gen.1:5 and Lev.23:32 tells us "evening to evening" is considered to be a day.

Now I know this is true because the MAJORITY(Matt.7:13) is always wrong. Also there's many clues that it wasn't a Friday crucifixion and a Sunday resurrection; look at 2Tim.2:18. But you will point out Mark 16:9 which says "Now when Jesus was risen[the perfect tense is correct here--he was already risen] early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene." Now the original Greek didn't have no punctuation. If the King James translators put a comma after the word "risen" and not after "week", this would make complete sense. The Centenary Translation renders it this way: "Now after his resurrection, early on the first day of the week he appeared first to Mary Magdalene."

The Lord fulfilled the law when he died, everyday is sabbath because we now rest in his Love and mercy, we use Sunday for worship because he rose from the grave on Sunday.
