The answer is P= 37 and the index is 3.

1998 only has two factors between 100 and 200. They are 111 and 18.

It didn't take any brainpower I basically created a spreadsheet listing the primesup to 37 and then calculated the answer by subsituting in the index and increasing it for each prime until the answer exceeded 1998. Started with the prime = 1 and worked up to 37 before I got an answer (didn't try any others so there could be a few more in theory). For the second part I generated a list of numbers from 100 to 200 and divided 1998 by each number. Then all I had to do was check the list to see if any of the answers were whole numbers. Whole thing took about 5 minutes or so.
