Make an ordinary buttercream icing, and get food colouring from the supermarket and colour it. If you cannot find the colours you want, buy several different colours and experiment until you find the colours you want, and then add a little bit at a time to your icing in small batches. Alternatively, you could try going to a specialist cake shop and buying coloured icing, but that will cost you a lot. It is easier to just use food colouring.

Just get a package of food coloring from the baking section of your local grocery store. The colors are usually blue, red, orange and green, I think. You can mix the colors to make others.

Make a buttercream icing and you can buy paste colors at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. You can also change the flavors with different flavorings or by adding strawberries, etc.

food coloring is one way ... but if you want to experiment with flavor added maybe try a bit of a powdered drink mix (ie: Kool-Aid) the confectioners sugar in the icing should keep it sweet enough; just don't add too much at a time or it could taste bitter
