The best way I've found?
Use the following:
1 quart hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup of baking soda
1 teaspoon of liquid soap

Lather up the on the dog, leave on for about 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Repeat if needed (sometimes the first shot will get most of the odor but not wuite all)

Good luck!

Tomato juice works but you have to use a lot of it and let it soak into the skin for a while. It's also really hard to shampoo the tomato juice out of a light-colored dog's coat. I don't know a name for it, but there is an odor neutralizing spray that hunters use to mask their scent in the field. It works really well for killing the skunk odor. You can get it at Academy or any other sports/outdoors store. Good luck!

Tried tomato juice and it did not work!!! We used a lot of it but could not get the smell and burn off of the dog. He was sprayed probably about 3-4 times by the skunk!

petco or probably any pet store sells special dog shampoos designed to get the skunk smell out. My mom used it on her dog and she said it got most of the smell out the first time but she washed him again with it the next day and then it was all gone.

I asked my boss this question and her response was to mix equal parts of baking soda, vinegar and water and spray the dog with it. Will kill the smell almost immediately! Let me know how it works - good luck!

The stink will last a while. I would consult a vet on this matter.
