People often say "They preserved the knowledge and wisdom of the ancient world, which had been destroyed by the Christians, and thus helped to drag Europe out of the Dark Ages."
That isn't really true though. That knowledge was far better preserved by the Byzantine Empire.
What Islam did to "drag Europe out of the Dark Ages" was to wage jihad on the Byzantine Empire, thereby forcing them to call on Rome for help, which led to the Crusades.
During the Crusades, Europeans encountered new knowledge from China and India and were reacquainted with knowledge lost after the fall of the Roman Empire. The transfer of knowledge was not one way only though. Europeans had a better understanding of mechanics than Muslim Arabs. The Christians of the "Dark Ages" brought the most advanced siege engine of its time (the trebuchet) to Palestine and the first windmills ever constructed in the Middle East were built by the "barbaric" Europeans.
...
The list in the previous post is very inaccurate. For example, if you actually study the history of the windmill, Muslims most certainly did not invent it.

I don't really know if there are contributions, but what transpires today doesn't really show any good thing about it. Even if they argue that Islam is the right one but the claims are not being reinforced by the right attitudes.
But look at this Christian woman who was a nun named Sister Leonella Sgorbati. She forgave her attackers before she lost her breath.

This alone is will prove that Christianity has given mankind the biggest contribution that can fill the heart with love and forgiveness. I know that if Christians speaks against Islam or Muslims, it is not necessarily out of hate but out of the kind of freedom that christianity has bestowed to its followers. It does not necessarily mean hate but the freedom to express Christian opinion may it be hurting or not as long as it speaks of truth and we as humans should learn to respect each others opinion if we really want to maintain peace in this world because we too have been insulted and mocked sometime in our lives.

first of all people are confusing inventions by people , with inventors , religion is not the real reason of invention it is the neccesity , so I would not credit greek gods with pythagorous theorem , some people are right that much good cannot be credited to islam, but still it is the religion of almost a fourth of the humanity

telescope, pendulum, watch, mariners compass, gunpowder, soap, paper, and skills in textiles (if you look very closely at some Christian paintings from I believe the renaissance period, you will find verses of Quran enscribed along the edges of the fabric draping the subject), windmill, astrolabe, the numeral zero, the numbers WE use today (1234567890), glass, coffee, toothbrush, discovered how the eye works, calligraphy, advances in geometry, algebra, trigonometry, etc (yeah, I know, they suck for that, lol!), alcohol (they invented the distillation process...ironic isn't it!), surgical tools, domes and other architectural advances, kiosks, first attempt to fly, advances in astronomy, chemistry and biology, advances in philosophy, the Qur'an speaks of the first knowledge of embryology...
That isn't all, but you kinda get the gist of it. If you need more, just let me know!
