Hinduism is alot different, fundamentally, then Christianity. Christian beliefs are very "cut and dry" or "black and white". It's no wonder more and more people are beginning to question Christianity and, in turn, stop following their religion. The basics of Hinduism are really wonderful and allow the individual to control their own destiny. As we progress as human beings, we more and more want our freedom to express our religion as an individual. Christianity kind of prevents that.

Monetary gains my friend would have made the poor tribal converts rich. 190 years is a LOOOOONG time. How come the tribals didn't turn rich Zamindars overnight or even after generations ? They are still as poor as church mice. You tell me WHY ARE THEY RECONVERTING NOW ? Should I presume that it's because of the money that is being doled out to them.
Going to a temple or church doesn't make one 'more' religious - you could be doing that daily and still be the greatest sinner. Moreover forced or bribed conversion has no meaning, so I don't hold it to be true. Unless you change willingly you are not a christian.Christianity is not about numbers it is about doing good and following the word of God.
One swallow doesn't a summer make. So it's not right of you to speak on behalf of the whole hindu community and say they are religious and do no wrong. Perhaps a head count of criminals in prisons on the basis of religion will prove a point.
Look at the poverty in India does it speak of charitable hindus - rich, middle class...Abandoned children on the streets why don't the religious hindus take them in. The hungry on the roads - how many meals have you shared with them ? Giving 50 paise each to a beggar outside a temple doesn't make one noble. How many of the so called rich, middle class, lower middle class hindus donate their riches to the poor ? If they did any charitable work then India would have 100% literacy, zero poverty etc .So what good is it going to the temple when you do not do anything for the better of humanity.
Look at the log in your own eye before pointing at the splinter in your neighbours.
Nice to know you are keeping tabs on christians visiting churches on your trips abroad. It would be better if you see how they work for their communities.
Finding fault with others and thinking what you follow is the best is what creates problems.
It is people like you who give rise to religious intolerance.
Every believer has the right to feel that his GOD is the ALMIGHTY and his religion the best - the way a mother finds her children beautiful.
I hope you change your outlook for nothing gives you the right to question anyones belief.
HOW MANY MOTHER TERESSA'S CAN HINDUISM BOAST OF ?

You asked a difficult question. Of course, my answer is only my personal take on why people in Western countries (in my case, America) aren't very attracted to Christianity.
1. First, there have been some people who call themselves Christians making bigoted and intolerant public remarks. The outrageousness of their statements guarantees a lot of media attention. Therefore, being a Christian sometimes is incorrectly equated with being closeminded or ignorant. The media doesn't focus much on the good values and actions of many everyday Christians who are building houses for the homeless or feeding the poor; as far as news reporting is concerned, these events are perceived as trivial and mundane. Because of the disproportionate coverage of hypocritical or hateful examples of Christians, people are turned off by the image of Christianity.
2. In the U.S.we have a separation of church and state. Since the 1960s we have had no prayer in school, and prayer and worship in public are strictly limited. In many families, spirituality plays no part. Many children grow up not knowing much about any religion.
3. For people who do know what Christianity is actually about, many find that it is very difficult to practice. Christians are called to show forgiveness and love their enemies, for example, and doing this sometimes feels impossible. There is a great deal of personal discouragement involved in daily life as a Christian (a struggle which is okay), but some people may feel like hypocrites or failures, or that being a Christian is too much work or incompatible with living in our society with its competition, aggressiveness, and materialism. (However, God can give us the strength to do what is not humanly possible.)
Christianity as a faith is not unattractive. It is a rich and joyful way of life. It is unfortunate that misconceptions would discourage people from finding out more about it. I hope I answered your question to some extent.

this may be partly due to the tendency of Western Culture and Society. there are a number of factors which may contribute such as the free will not to follow traditional Christian Churches. there may be others who have to work and are unable to attend Church services. Also there may be many who may be deceived into believing they are religious when they are not in reality.others may be placing more value on material goods rather than their spiritual needs.

Because Christianity requires followers to accept truth and to stop sinning and to follow the laws of God (not moses). All other religions are very liberal concerning sin, especially sexual matters. When there are no absolute truths, there's no absolute sin.
