Satan is a fallen Angel who was an Archangel until he wanted to dethrone God. He also tries to teach us that we can be gods also!
Genesis 3:4-5
Matthew 4:8-11
Job 1:6-12
Isaiah 14:12-15
Revelation 12:7-9
This may not be the best references, but, it gives a good idea of what going on.

One verse in the bible 2 Cor 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

They link this to Satan, though there really is nothing in this verse or the one's before and after to show this direct link. But then this would mean the Trinitarians believe in 4 Gods... God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and Satan. Even if they refuse to see the Trinity as 3 Gods... they are still Polytheistic in nature, believing in a Dualism, One Good God and One Evil God vying for the souls of man.

Mankind doesn't need influence from a devil. We do enough all on our own.

Technically, Satan is a god. Now, a god is anything that is worshipped. Therefore, money, celebrities, and all the idols people had were technically gods. However, God is the only true God, the only omnipotent entity. As people sin, and do wrong, they in essence pay homage to Satan as a god, and he is the god of this world, the ruling force, but God is the only true God. Hope that's not too confusing.

Satan is the Christian god of Evil.
1. They give him much credit. I have met some Christians who actually claimed that Satan created bad things, like mosquitoes, sharks, and the flu. Ok, they were a family of wackos, but they were very devout wackos. Aside from total weirdos, many people give credit to Satan for things and attribute things to him. That's what people do with gods, they associate things with them. When I see carpenters, I think of Thor, with His hammer and good work ethic. When Christians see crack hos, they might see women led astray by Satan's addictive kisses. In fact, the level of sophistication that Satan is credited with is far wider and has a deeper global impact than God Himself. Many Christians say that the gods and goddesses of all other religions are really Satan in disguise, 'misleading' the followers of those religions into faith in order to keep them from converting to the One True Faith. That's putting a lot of credit to Satan. So Satan's been looking over and leading the faithful around the globe to keep them from joining one Middle Eastern religion. He must be a hard worker.
2. Rebel Christians worship Satan. Theistical Satanists use the Bible as much as Christians do. They draw all their theology from it and base their own faith upon it's teachings, even if it's only to reject them. The Egyptians Lord of Evil, Set, was reviled by the average Egyptian, but given worship by rebelious Egyptians. It is now recognized that Set is an Egyptian god, but the Egyptians of the time would have told you that he is the god of noone.
3. Satan originated from the Bible and Abrahamic (?) tradition. No other culture has a god, or any other type of being, called Satan, or Lucifer Morningstar, or Beezelbub, or Devil. If he is not a god of their tradition, then how would you describe him and the influence that he is associated with? Many Christians would say that Satans power is second only to God's. Fallen angel? I've heard about early missionairies claim Europe's ancient gods/goddesses were 'fallen angels', but does that make them any less gods? Especially if you consider that Satan, as a 'fallen angel' is given so much credit and is 'second only to God' in ability? More thought, and some research, has shown me that angels, as beings of cosmic awareness, CANNOT 'fall from grace'. My source indicates that they may well lack the capacity of freewill which would be required to 'fall'. What, exactly, is Satan to the Christian 'mythos'? If he cannot be a fallen angel, then would that make him a god, demi-god, what? How would you define 'a god'?
4. The passing of time and validity. Once the ancient Egyptian's faith had faded, those who collect ancient stories had no problem with calling Set a god. His associations were all with evil, so he was called their god of Evil. If Christianity ever fades away, the Devil will go down in history books as their god of Evil. He was attributed with much influence and power and all his associations are about Evil things.
5. A Monotheism is a religion with only one god. That means that all aspects of existance could be attributed to that one, single, Diety. In modern Christianity, there is God, Jesus, and Satan. That is three distinct individuals. Some Christians try to get out of that by saying that Christ is actually God incarnate and that Satan is 'just' a fallen angel, but this doesn't hold water. Why would Christ talk to God or spend time in God's company if Christ was, in fact, God? That's a totally seperate topic, sorry. But, let's just say, for the sake of arguement, that Jesus and God are one and the same being, what's with Satan? Is he another aspect of a single diety? Is Satan just God's 'dark side'? Aside from the occational wacko, 99% of Christians would say NO. So you have Satan, this being of immense power, influence, capability, and he cannot be a fallen angel. He must be a god of some sort.

The Bible says that Satan repeatedly tempts me, and tries to coherse me into worshipping him, but I've never been approached by Satanists. The Bible also says that Satan will try to decieve me into thinking he is my only chance of salvation or some other crap like that... Isn't it possible that Christians are actually being tricked into worshipping Satan? Christians are the only ones trying to tell me the only way to salvation is through Jesus, and Christians are the only ones trying to actively recruit me...

no he is not god, because the one true god (Allah) made him and created him from fire, and before god created mankind (Adam) there were the angels (created from light) and satan and they all worshiped god, and then god made Adam from mud, and asked the andgels and satan to bow to him but satan refused to do so, saying how could he satan made from fire bow to such thing made of mud, so god told him that he would put him in the iternal flames of hell fire, but then satan asked god to let him be until the day of judgement so he would make as many people go to hell with him by making sins good for them.
and so that makes him not a god, but god's creation!
