The last I heard was he was making slow but steady progress, one side of his head around his eye was swollen, but he is able to walk short distances and hold a lucid conversation. BUT there maybe some long term effects on his mental well being, his long or short term memory maybe affected, his sense of smell, taste etc. maybe affected. Hopefully he will make a full and lasting recovery and he will be back on our screens in the near future. Best wishes Hamster, get well soon!

The Hamster is doing very well -- Clarkson's article for the Sun is howlingly funny as always (apparently when Hammond opened his eyes, Jeremy looked him square in the face and said "The reason you're here, mate, is that you're a crap driver." And then Hammond smiled.)

The Sources field contains a link to Clarkson's article, which is must-read material for any Top Gear fans. Clarkson has NOTHING but praise for the staff at Leeds General Infirmary for the care they gave Hammond, and it looks as though this very, very frightening episode will have a happy ending.

Anyway... we're all glad he's doing better.

He seems to be doing really well thank God. I heard that he has been moved to an ordinary ward since yesterday. It was also reported that he has taken a few steps, which I think is a miracle when you think of the damage he could have sustained. It seems he is able to chat to his wife too because she said that there are tons of flowers arriving at the hospital for him and she said that he is worried that his friends will take the mick about it. So he must be in good form. She also said that it would be nice if, instead of sending flowers, his wellwishers could donate to the voluntary rescue people who looked after him immediately after his accident.

The last I heard, he was making a good recovery but the media reports are often quite vague. Initially they said he had suffered a significant brain injury but they didn't go into any detail about how much of a recovery he was expected to make. I think his family are also keen to not let too many details about his condition to be know, probably to protect their privacy.

Read that despite his recovery, his head injuries were serious - which could mean epilepsy. If that is the case, will the condition be 'sexed up' enough to have money thrown at it, and future media spreads on (famous) epileptics of time gone by?

Apparently he is doing much better, I read that he woke up yesterday and asked what had happened, when told that he had been in a car crash he asked "Was I driving like a T*@t?"

The only positive thing to come out of this accident (if there is one at all) is that he is being recognised as the brilliant presenter that he his.

Seems to be doing ok. Talking and walking. It'll be a time before they know the full extent of his brain injury but it's obvious he hasn't lost movement or vocal abilities.

Still continuing to improve. Great news!
Also I read that well wishers have donated £140,000 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance which is fantastic.
