You can certainly burn 1000 calories a day. I've done it many times. However, my work out regime might look like this: Lift weights for 45 minutes in the morning (about 200 - 250 calories), walk the dog for 1/2 mile (100) and then run 5 - 7 miles (400 - 600) calories. I do break my fitness routines into various parts of the day, but not everone has that luxury with their time.

I am pretty well trained and the problem is that your body will break down, especially if you are new to fitness. If you are relatively fit, I wouldn't recommend doing the 1000 calorie deal any more than once a week (unless you are an elite track runner or something like that, in which case they burn thousands everyday).

You can certaily train hard one day, but you must give your body a rest the next, otherwise you are courting injury.

When your body works out hard, you are giving it stress, so that raises your body's cortisol levels (not good) as well as causing free radicals (suspected of causing cancer). So for every hard day of fitness, be sure to give your body at least a day or two break.

If I were your coach, I'd urge you to break into fitness, slowly. That way you aren't here next week asking questions on why your X hurts after running Y miles.

Patience is key to losing the fat as well as a healthy, sound calorie conscious diet. Definitely pick up a Shape / Fitness or other fitness related magazine and educate yourself. I cannot stress that enough.

Exercising yourself ragged by burning 1000 calories a day will only leave you frustrated and most likely injured.

Feel free to drop me a line if you need more fitness help.

Good luck.

Too little sleep can increase levels of cortisol, a potentially dangerous stress hormone. High levels of cortisol contribute to a number of problems, including, weakening of the immune system, brain cell reduction, depression, irritability, lack of energy and the storage of fat. You need 8-9 hours of sleep per night.

You don't discuss how you're planning to eat while you're doing all of this exercise. Eating smaller meals more often, with none of the meals exceeding 500 calories is an important aspect of efficient fat loss.

There is a very fine line between the calories needed to build muscle (which also speeds up your metabolism) and the calorie restriction needed to lose weight. Adding muscle to your frame will burn more calories at rest.

Your current weight dictates how many calories you will burn during any given exercise.

There is no scientific evidence that training or exercising for more than 45 minutes per day is more beneficial for building muscle.

You can add a cardio workout for an additional 30 to 45 minutes daily and you can do that separately.

I have set my goal of burning 1000 calorie a day and have been quite successful these days. I mostly use stairmaster for about 1 hour 15 minutes continously with little rest in between. That burns about 1000 calories. Sometimes I use elliptical for about 1 hour with the highest resistance level. The elliptical reading shows somewhere about 1400 calories, however, I doubt the accuracy of elliptical reading. Maybe it is around 900-1000 calories. Now I have started loosing my weight with these exercises. I started 215 pounds in the beginning and just now I have taken my weight which is 205 pounds. My goal is to achieve 180 pounds to fit my height of 5 foot 11 inches. Then I will incorporate strength training with that of cardio. Hope my situation helps to address your concern albeit a little bit.

Hmmm well this varries from person to person, obviously the bigger the person the more calories they require. You didnt say your weight, height or body fat % so I can't give you the best estimation. However the average is anywhere between 1200- 1800. Just remember that you (and everyone else) needs atleast 1200 calories a day! Oh yea and the more you exercise the more calories you need..but I'm sure you already knew that :P

in all honesty i would not prescribe a programme for someone to do 3 hrs exercise a day. it is very bad for you to do too much exercise. why do you want to burn so many calories. I would like to discus this further with you.

If you just want to release endorphins to relax you then all you have to do is go for a walk or jog, or do a yoga class. 1000 calories a day is very extreme. Would you be increasing your intake a day?

That's impossible to do. Besides, you'll really hurt yourself going on such a crash diet.
