Free cd to mp3 ripper - does what it says on the tin!
Very simple to use; no geeky fiddling required.
http://www.eusing.com/CDRipper/CDRipper.htm
The blurb:

"Free CD to MP3 Converter is an easy-to-use free CD ripper software that allows you to extract audio files from a CD and convert them to MP3, Wav or Ogg format. It can automatically retrieve title information from the CDDB database, normalize the output files and supports additional LAME options."

FreeRIP is similar:

If you want more options consider Audiograbber or Switch Sound File Converter - both free and excellent

Windows Media Player will do that. It's already on your computer. You'll need to change the ripping format from WMA to mp3. Tools...Options and click on the Rip Music tab.

If you have Windows Media Player 11 you can do that now.

Here's how;
open WMP, from the now playing tab select more options, select the rip music tab, in file format choose mp3. Easy.

If you do not have WMP 11 you can download it free from Microsoft at

Check out www.downloads.com, they're great and reliable. They're the guys who publish Computer Shopper. Look in Audio/Video.

There's plenty around, but I find Media Monkey the quickest and easiest to use.
