Naturally we have a survival instinct that kicks in when the end seems near. But there are lots of religions that can't wait for the world to end. Check out the Jehovah's Witnesses. They've predicted the end of the world many times over the last century, particularly in 1975...I hear people quit paying their bills and moved into campers in their front lawns because they were so convinced.
The point is we should enjoy what we have when we have it because if heaven is real there will be plenty of time to enjoy that when time comes.

I never said that the dead people are having fun in heaven. Even if they are having fun, its good for them! But we are not sure of it, therefore we can make our present world a happy place as we are sure of ourselves here!

It's a bit of a Catch-22. If you attempt to hurry the process, you won't be able to go.

So the heaven-believers say, anyway.

Because they have to wade through like a million years of purgatory first. The afterlife sucks hard for a long time, assuming you even get on the less sucky path. That is, unless there is no afterlife. If that's the case, death is only moderately sucky, but on a long term basis.

I am sorry, but you have a misconception of death. Not your fault, but let me help you to understand. When we die we DO NOT go any where, heaven or hell, we wait in the grave until our resurrection, whether the first or the second. The first is to everlasting LIFE, and the second is to everlasting DEATH, from which there is NO resurrection.

We who are saved know where we are headed, but we will not leave until its Gods will for us to do so. He probably has much more for us to do on earth, before we depart. We are in a hurry, but it is to do God's will, until He wants us to come home.

They know that it won't be all fun. They will have to live with the being that is eternally torturing their friends and loved ones who aren't up there with them.

That and they know deep down that heaven or hell doesn't exist.

Not that many people are fanatical enough to blow themselves up to accomplish it. And others are more concerned about doing productive deeds in the here and now before they do go.
