If you had to create a new log on name, your files may still be there. You will have to "take ownership" of those files because your computer doesn't know they belong to you. This involves starting your computer in safe mode and is not difficult. The other option is restoring your computer to the date where you had the files easily accessable, backing them up, and then restoring again.

If you mean that you used System Restore to restore your pc, you may still get your work back -

Lets say on Sep 23rd, you restored it to Sep 19th
1. Restore your pc back to Sep 23rd
2. Find all your work related files and place them into My Documents
3. Restore the pc to Sep 19th

Of course, if you formatted your pc... you can't recover your lost data just like that.

Did you have to reformat the hard drive? If so, your work is gone forever.

If you just reinstalled Windows without reformat, the saved work should be there. Try using the windows Search function (click on Start -> Search) to see if you can find it.
