He didn't say anything about Mohammad. He quoted someone from the 14th century that talked about Islam being spread by force (the sword). Have you read his entire speech? I'm assuming you haven't

What damage? How could this possibly be more damaged than it already is?

And yes, his words were powerful... his Quote. He was quoting another person, a person who fought against muslims during the reign of Byzantine. A bit before our time. But his words also brought about a result many people have been saying. So many claim Islam is a peaceful religion, yet when faced with that quote, instead of taking a peaceful position, they sent death threats and demanded an apology. So, in all honesty, his words alone did not do the damage to the image of Islam... their reaction did the damage.

The muslim responses underline the words of the pope. Why don't you muslims start looking into your religion and realize what time we live in. If muslims can't stand criticism they should avoid watching TV, reading newspapers and all kinds of other evil that distorts their indoctrinated minds.
Stay in your cave, or come out with open eyes. Everything in between is a recipe for disaster. Not only for the muslim society, but for the rest of the world too, because you come in large quantities and spread like fire. The muslim community will be the biggest problem in the world of the future because every time they feel hurt, they start threatening or even killing people. Western society is not gonna tolerate this for decades, I'm pretty sure of that.

"Speaking in Germany, the Pope quoted a 14th Century Christian emperor who said the Prophet Muhammad had brought the world only "evil and inhuman" things."- BBCNews

Even though he just quoted someone...how can he state a quote as offensive as this.....I am a Muslim and if I said that Jesus brought the world only EVIL and INHUMAN things or even quoted someone who stated that...how would I sound......
I find it commical that him using this quote has caused people to have EVIL and INHUMAN thoughts between one another...and "true" Islam is about peace and unity......as well as "true" Christianity ...but there are people who deface both these religions with ignorance and for their own selfish gain....

Although, I must point out that I have a problem with Catholics worshiping statues and their preist having issues with little boys and then the pope has the nerve to call another group of people evill and inhumane......and history as well as recent years will reveal the inhuman brutality that extreme Christians have bestowed on Muslims and vice versa....notice I said "extreme"..........the two religions have been ar war for centuries....so I think this conversation or issue goes a little deeper than the average person can comprehend....I would suggest before anyone makes anymore ignorant comments to do some research instead of relying on hear say for your facts......

It has become "stupid" now days to tell the truth. Don't say anything as the followers of truth will kill you..
http://www.apostatesofislam.com/media/stoning.htm
You get reported because you show something off of the news or something that shows the truth about anything..
We can just re-write history and make everything different.
That has already been written about in the book 1984
Besides why do muslims keep on re-posting the things that are bad press for them..
Can't Islam realise that their violence contradicts their words about being peaceful. Or is rational thinking impossible..

Why is it that when the Pope says something about another faith that they don't like they have the right to threaten his life? But when other faiths say something against our Pope it's okay?

Pope Benedict didn't say anything new. These are things that the church has said for centuries. Many people are taking it out of context or added their own words to it.

Your comments calling the leader of the Catholic church stupid are very offensive to me and to many others.

As the Pope is the only man on earth whose office still enjoys power and authority that comes directly from God, when he speaks, it behooves all of the faithful to take note.

God may be trying to tell us something, through him.

In this case, the Muslim reaction to the words of the Pope proved that the ancient Byzantine emperor was (and still is) correct.

What are you doing to help change the disgraceful and violent behavior of your fellow Muslims?

PBUH- Does that Mean Pigs' Butts under Hogs' feet? The pope, or anyone else, has a right to say whatever they please. The fact is MUhammad ( bacon and ham slices unto him) advocated spreading his beliefs by the sword, if required. The Pope is only saying that his god does not approve of violence for any religious purpose. What is stupid about that? I do not belief any of that hocus-pocus BS, but freedom of expression is the basis of civil society, not stoning women for not wearing burkas in the shower.

Is the Pope stupid? Hardly. He is a world-renowned scholar. He know EXACTLY what he's saying and the impact. Muslims need to be challenged, shocked and talked into admitting that violence in religion is incompatible with God no matter what it says in your comic book.

Yes, words are powerful. The pope's speeches are carefully written. The pope said, "Violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul," Do you agree or disagree with that?

He said words that really hurts the feelings of one religion. He talked about 'Jihad'. Jihad means fighting or conducting war for our and our religions protection. i.e., if anyone is trying to take their Independence, faith, etc., there is no other way to protect it and we must protect ourselves , and thats wat their god says. So, saying against it is not a good thing.

Friends, before saying anything supporting Pope or or against prophet, think about Jihad and what he said. Don't fall in people who simply tries to make blackmark in Islam(not Pope i mean). Think about you answering. There is nothing in earth given to us for which we cannot think of and realise the truth.

Think, think, think, after all you all are smart humans. You wont be excused for anything in the day of judgement for if its head is the god you believe or the god I believe. Neither god(anyone truth) wont forgive you if you just say anything about any religion without thinking. Because he has give you a sharp brain, sharpest of every living animals
