That's a great question!
And the answer is that different guys expect different things.
I'm a SWM in NYC. I expect a girl to be intelligent, kind and good company. (However, looks don't hurt either.)
If I think enough of her to be my wife, I expect her to be emotionally strong and personally responsible. It helps if she has most of her familiar issues hashed out before.
I think one of the most attractive things would be if she made up for my shortcomings and vice versa. That shows that we can care for each other.

I have been happily married for almost 13 years and I have found what make a good marriage is not to have expectations of my wife, I make requests of her and then let her decide if she will honor the request.

All we expect is what you expect from your husband or future husband. We expect you to be loving, caring, loyal and faithful.

I would expect her to trust me...be communicative....if she finds faults in me to point them out lovingly... and for her to have a goal and purpose in life...
