Both of its parents were thorughbreds. It's a kind of breed just like quarterhorse or belgian or shire. TBs are the most commonly raced horses in the US, but in racing they sometimes also have quarterhorse or arabian races, too. If you watch the races and see carts behind the horse (sulky), these are Standardbreds.
